JAMMA Mono -> Stereo (dual mono)

Post by emphatic »

I'm trying to install a 2.1 set in one of my candy cabs. What I can't find any info anywhere (I've been googleing for hours now) is how to connect the JAMMA mono signal so I get it in both speakers.

I have this situation:

Code: Select all

JAMMA -> Speaker + | Speaker -

-> quick connect

L+ | L- |R- | R+ -> (Speaker level to Line level converter)

-> RCA out (Stereo)

-> Line in (2.1 speakers)
Can I connect L+ and R+ into Speaker+ and L- and R- into Speaker - without risking any damage to either PCB's or the speakers?

Thanks

I just twisted the L+ & R+, and hooked that up to the Speaker+. Same solution with the other polarity. I now have sound in all speakers. Hopefully I won't break any PCB's this way.

Interessting topic.
What kind of 2.1 setup do you use? Have you placed it inside the cabinet?

Yes, the subwoofer is inside the cabinet. I have installed a power outlet for that and for my consoles in my cabinet, that's powered on along with the cabinet. I used a cheap Logitec that I got for 'round $20. If you plan on doing this, I would recommend you use one with a knob for bass level as well as volume. In case you have an EGRET II or AWSD, you can use the original, built-in speakers with the subwoofer.

It's really easy and VERY MUCH worth it as the sound quality is about doubled. The important thing is to use the speaker level -> line level converter, as your PCB's' amplifiers might burn up if not.

I got my sound signal converter here: http://www.arcadegames.se/shop
