Yeah, seriously. I'm not adverse to popping some jerk in the face on Halo 3 or Call of Duty, but I'd never ever ever ever aim a real gun at someone. There's a line between reality and fiction that gets a little more distorted every time someone links shootings to video games. I blame the person, not the game.PROMETHEUS wrote:It can't be that you really believe that bullshit ?D wrote:Maybe fps's really are not good for people?
Kind of answered your own question - school is the worst place in the world for some people.jpj wrote:

And so the number of normal people at gunshows continues to decrease... I expect the next gunshow to be filled to the brim with crazy fundamentalist kons, survivalists preaching about the upcoming apocalypse, neo-Bushites, and lots of those guys who think owning rocket launchers is a constitutional right(it's in there somewhere), and of course those guys trying to convince you that you need a 50 caliber sniper rifle or a pre-ban assault rifle to hunt squirrels.Damocles wrote:Well...if this doesn't cause Obama/Holder to push for a firearms ban, or at least a reinstitution of the Brady Bill, I'll be very surprised.
I expect this weekend's gunshow to be big.
Geez some people just want something for home protection when Mexico decides to invade...

It's sad the number of people that think gun shows are like that. For the most part the worst you would encounter are wannabe gangstas attracted to any pistol small (or big) and shiny or felons. One can be identified when they pick up a pistol and hold it cockeye, the other when they ask "Is your stuff papered? (have to be called in to the FBI before sale)...which most guns are.
I've been to gunshows. They have always attracted the above mentioned types. However, it seems that ever since Obama has been elected, the number of crazies at gun shows has only gone up. Of course this could be because I live in Texas, gun lover capital of the world.Damocles wrote:It's sad the number of people that think gun shows are like that. Gun owners are very, very afraid. They have a long history with Emanuel, Pelosi, and Holder. Add in Clinton and all of their cronies and it's a sure-fire thing there will be more restrictions. As such, gun shows as of late have been packed, and virtually everything is on back-order. There is high demand for everything before the bans start coming.
I bet they tried to. But if people are bullied everyone becomes an enemy, not just the initiators. I guess that's why those people just ran amok, to show who's the boss after years of humiliation.jpj wrote:if they were bullied, or school made their life a misery, don't kill a bunch of random peoplego after the ones who wronged you

Fixed it for you. I'm tired of gun owners being labeled with this huge ass stroke of the brush. Not all gun owners are hardcore crazy Kons. I'd even say most of them understand that there are many weapons that don't belong in the hands of the general public. Then you have the "others." These guys are small sect of gun owners but yet they are the ones that get on fox news. They are the ones that get interviewed whenever the news orgs need a sound bite. They know they are the minority too. So the best they can do it whip up this anti-obama conspiracy bullshit that he's out to "take hurr guns."
It's really fuckin sad because these loonies are responsible for the fast and loose nature of Texas gun shows. Whenever the gov tries to regulate, these idiots start the whine train until the gov backs off. The result is that the majority of firearms used by the Mexican drug cartels come from Texas gunshows. I hope these crazies aren't just masturbating to their gun magazines because if Mexico collapses, they're going to have to actually use a gun.

Yep, those who hunt don't give a shit. Everyone else who is thinking about buying something other than a single-shot shotgun or bolt-action low-caliber rifle should be wary. "Crazy gun owning Kons"? Basically everyone who tried to buy a new semi-auto rifle from 1994 to 2004. As for demand...we get virtually nothing from suppliers these days. Rifles, pistols, ammo, it doesn't matter. Everything, and I do mean everything, is scarce. As such, our ratio of new to used guns is now something like 20/80. Kinda sad about Texas show promoters, however. Around here most promoters frown upon a large portion of "private collections". Which promoters operate down in those parts, anyway? The n00b wrote:Damocles wrote:SOME gun owners are very, very afraid. Also, Obama doesn't want our guns...that's Holder. hehe
Awesome, another gun control clusterfuck.

Outfitting entire armies south of the US would tend to create a bit of a drain on local gun and ammo supply wouldn't it? The sad thing is how much the NRA, gun dealers, and gun nut conservatives are looking the other way on this. It's either because they fear any more gov regulation of the industry or, more likely, they enjoy all that Mexican drug money.BulletMagnet wrote:Probably because everything's already been sold to the Mexican drug cartels.Damocles wrote:As for demand...we get virtually nothing from suppliers these days. Sure you might see the occasional redneck refusing to sell to a "messican-looking" guy who doesn't speak "prop-her anglish" but that doesn't do shit. Really that's all a song and dance show for the authorities. The mexican cartels are too smart to be stopped that way and given the amount of ammo they expend in a given day; obviously have a good supplier within the American gun community. So how come hardly any American smugglers have been caught sneaking guns into Mexico?
Edit: I just saw Damocles call it a conspiracy. Well it's starting to sound like a valid theory. I also see that Kansas isn't suffering from the fallout from this as much as Texas is. They just see the money and then they make a huge assumption about who's buying the guns. The Texas murder rate is way up, especially along the border. Our border agents have also sometimes been forced to retreat from drug cartel incursions because the cartels are just so heavily armed. This following article comes as no surprise to those living in border states...
"The State Department recently estimated U.S.-originated guns were used in 95% of Mexico's drug-related killings. The number of such murders more than doubled to almost 6,000 last year, up from about 2,700 in 2007.
Meanwhile, U.S. authorities seized only 257 weapons heading south at border checkpoints in 2008 -- and a total of just 733 dating back to the start of 2005, according to data Homeland Security officials provided to The Wall Street Journal."
