Strider PCB sound ROMs?

Post by maxlords »

Anyone know where I can get a set of revised Strider ROMs with all the music for the CPS1 board? Or how I can fix mine with the new sound?

I've got a swanky USB EPROM burner I've never used, so I'm sure I could use that. Does the fix require desoldering or is it on socketed chips?

Any help would be appreciated!

Never heard about this, can you give me a link for more information regarding this?

My Strider has ROM sockets.

There's a 2nd set of sound ROMs with non-repeating music (i.e. different music for Stage 3 and some other stuff). I wanted to fix my repeating music by replacing it with the non-repeating one.

Have you talked with Hobbyroms.com? Guy does awesome work- and it's very cheap. He's up there in Canada, too :P Tell him I said hi if you get anything from him.

It's ROM 9, from memory replace it with strider.09 from the main MAME romset. It's socketed, really easy.

Correction: it might be strid.09 you need - that's what I sent a friend when I dumped my board with good sound.

I think the mame version with the sounds is called strider usa 2 or something.

(I think only usa 1 has bad sounds and the Japanese one is proper) I know I certainly felt ripped off when I scrimped and saved for my strider baord and learned about the sound issues. I sent mine to get fixed.
