1cc effort on psikyo

Post by sjewkestheloon »

ok i want to make a long term effort to 1cc either one of the strikers games or one of the gunbird games. i have both the original and sequal of each in collections for my ps2 but i don't really know which one would be a good starting point in a real push for a 1cc. basically i'm looking for the easiest one to show progression in. kind of ruling out strikers 1945 2 at the mo as i've been playing it on ps1 for a long time and i can't progress consistently past 1-5... pretty lame i know.

but anyway any advice would be much appreciated

NOT gunbird 2

I would suspect Strikers 1 might be a good choice.

Aye. I've reached the final level in that, but haven't dedicated the time for that last push to clear the first loop. Same with Sengoku Ace, I've reached the last boss several times, if I would just practice him for a bit I'm sure I could beat him.

cool looks like gunbird 1 is the way to go then. any advice on who to choose etc?

i'm going to play at least an hour a day for the next few weeks and see how i do. i love the art style of this game. the little guys running about add a whole bucket of character to it.

Sengoku Blade is also not too difficult. It seems like all the games they made without charge bars tend to be easier. I think I prefer pre-charge bar Psikyo, GunBird 2 is really the only example of a Psikyo game with a charge bar that I've really warmed to.

I dunno, haven't played Strikers 1999 or Dragon Blaze very much.

well i've stuck a couple of hours into it now and i can get to 1-4 with consistency using the woman on a cloud (can't remember her name). i find the power up usage interesting here... i thought it was just the same as strikers but it seems, at least with this character, that the first three power ups give you your basic arsenal, here a spread in the centre and two missiles , and any subsequent power ups are temporary. collect one for example and my missile rate goes up to 3 each side but only for a small time, and then back to one each side. you can either collect powerups at this point for the 2000 point gain or leave them on screen until you automatically power down and want to increase your fire power.

also there are different points where the autofire and normal fire come into place.

i'm going to enjoy this :)

If i were you, your 1cc should be strikers 1945 2 as you are right now. it takes patience but you're getting there. you will soon mmemorize the bullet patters each enemy begins to shoot so you can always maneuver one way shoot, and dodge completely aside. If one day, when you 1cc strikers 1945 2, you will realize the other psikyo games are simply cakewalk. (exception gunbird 2)Playing strikers 1945 2 for the first time will make you have reflexes (as you learn progressively) you have never performed before. Now that is the psikyo experience. I'll agree with the "not Gunbird 2" statement. That game is evil evil evil. Fun, but evil. Same with Dragon Blaze, but that wasn't one of the titles you listed.

I think Gunbird 1 is easier to 1CC than either of the Strikers games, but since I haven't done it, I might not be the best person to listen to.

If you have access to mame, I'd suggest Strikers 1999. That was my first strikers 1cc. Next was Strikers 1945 II. I've never gotten past level 7 of the first Strikers 1945 - it's just damned difficult for me.

I haven't 1cced any Psikyo game ever... but the ones I found the easiest are Sengoku Blade , Strikers 1945 II and plus

Of course, I've played a lot of 1945 II, so this may have something to do with it.

Stillm, I find 1945 II easier than I.

And I havent played Gunbird that much... how's the saturn version?

Strikers 1945 II with the Hayate. As Bernard Doria's guide points out, you can easily eliminate many tough situations by dropping level one charge shots. The bomb is nice, protects you while you drop more level one charge shots.

Of course there's always Mobile Light Force for PSX. :D

Geez,

There are some pretty good players on here.

My best on 1945 plus is 1-6 and I only achieved that once. The pace was inhumane for my eye sight

It's fine.

I agree that out of the lot you mentioned Gunbird will be the easiest to 1CC. Exploiting the red-haired girl's bullet-nullifying melee attack helps a lot. Like Ghegs, I can reach the last boss pretty consistently, I just don't have dedicated the time to it that would be needed to finally clear the first round.

well i've now been able to reach stage 5 pretty consistently for the last couple of goes and i have to say this is the first time i've so quickly progressed with a psikyo game. those totem statue boss form things are well tough though. going to take me a while to figure out some safe spots etc. some of the bullet patterns are getting kind of manic too.

Your best bet would be 1945 Strikers II.
If you use the plane that shoots out the Green Shield, once powered up you can be practically invincible against all Boss attacks.
That's how 1cc it back in 1997.

What about Sengoku Ace/Samurai Aces?

I've started playing it in mame and it seems quite possible to one credit; causally playing through it I cleared it in less than 9 credits on my first run through...

So, does it have a rank system that'll end up kicking my ass? It's very generous with power ups and bombs.

To the best of my knowledge most Psikyo games have rank based primarily on how powered-up you are...if you hit an enemy ship and "power down" the rank is lowered. Not sure if there are other factors aside from that...

Like I said earlier, Sengoku Ace is pretty easy too. I've reached the last boss several times, just haven't dedicated the time to beat him. It doesn't have much of a rank system, usually I can one-life up to the second-to-last level.
