Me and my girl are getting drunk and watching Vexile and Wanted - her choices. She wants to do an anti-Valentines Day without dinner, wine and all that bullsh*t.
Last year I brought her a simple red rose with some baby's breath in a small vase to her gym (she's a personal trainer) and thought I'd just hand it to her on the floor and give her a quick kiss, do my job and be gone. When I walked in her manager told me she was upstairs and went up to see her. She was in the metting room - with 10 other big beefy dudes and trainers, just about to start a meeting. I handed her the flower, gave her a kiss, and got taunted by all the dudes on the way out. She appreciated it for sure, but I think she wants to stay away from having to do the 1-upsmanship thing and competing, which we do at everythihg else. We love each other a ton and just don't need 1 day a year to say it.

Feh @ Valentines. An overly commercialized holiday where people feel somehow obligated to suddenly "show their love" when they can't be bothered to for the rest of the year. Sad. If you love somebody, you shouldn't need an overpriced holiday bouquet or dinner to tell em...you should show em all year long. Makes me mad. My wife and I both think it's silly and don't celebrate it. We also don't celebrate anniversaries.
<@scootnet> if you were a real gamer, you could jerk it to Super Metroid box art

You shouldn't need a particular event pushing you to do nice things for your significant other, but today I gave my girlfriend some flowers and chocolates, and it put a smile on her face - so where's the harm in it? It doesn't have to be grandiose and expensive.
System11's random blog, with things - and stuff!

My feelings are mixed, on the positive side its a day which reminds us to set aside some time to do something nice for people we care about, its all too easy to get complacent. The part I don't like is the big drive to get people paired off just so nobody is single on a particular day. I guess when you're at school this seems pretty important but it just seems a little futile to me now.
Its bad my last ex i would do lots of nice things for her lot of little things and then i would get it in the neck if i failed on V day. She also cheated on me on V day too fucked me off while i was in work so i could not do anything about it then went out with her mates got pissed drunk and slept with another guy . Whore! its all good though shes a fucking heffer now and her boyfriend looks like a crack addict.bloodflowers wrote:You shouldn't need a particular event pushing you to do nice things for your significant other, but today I gave my girlfriend some flowers and chocolates, and it put a smile on her face - so where's the harm in it? I recall the Futurama episode where they blew up the candy made of ear wig honey and zoid berg goes on to explain
Zoidberg wrote:As the candy hearts poured into the fiery quasar a wondrous thing happened, why not. They vaporized into a mystical love radiation that spread across the universe destroying many, many planets, including two gangster planets and a cowboy world. But one planet was exactly the right distance to see the romantic rays but not be destroyed by them: Earth. So all over the world couples stood together in joy. And me, Zoidberg. And no one could have been happier unless it would have also been Valentine's Day. What? It was?Hooray!
