It's an availability thing. Who says an all Seimitsu stick is the best? People might want to mix it up a little. I prefer Sanwa buttons and a Seimitsu stick.D wrote:pardon my curiousity, but why would one want to mod a stick that already has the best arcade parts in it?
New HRAP for 360... Seimitsu this time.

Seimitsu LS-32 - 1,650¥
Seimitsu LS-32-01 - 1,780¥
Seimitsu LS-33 - 1,500¥
Seimitsu LS-40 - 1,650¥
Seimitsu LS-40-01 - 1,780¥
Seimitsu LS-55 - 1,500¥
Seimitsu LS-55-01 - 1,650¥
Seimitsu LS-56 - 1,500¥
Seimitsu LS-56-01 - 1,650¥
Seimitsu LS-64 - 6,490¥
With the exception of the LS-64, which no one uses, Seimitsu joysticks are cheaper. Buttons are about the same prices from both manufacturers.
About wanting more resistance is sort of a unnecessary reason to get a Seimitsu, you can just use a lighter/heavier spring on a Sanwa. In fact, Seimitsu manufacturers the lightest spring (and the smallest joystick), the LS-33. So if you want that, that'd also be a reason to go with Seimitsu. Another good reason is if you want levered microswtiches, which no Sanwa joystick use, but most Seimitsus do.

Does it still work on the AV7000?jpj wrote: converted to a ps2 stick, and a lag-free USB adaptor for when i'm on ggpo
I'll go out on a limb and the main reason Seimitsu products are cheaper is b/c Seimitsu sells direct at a discount... they sell at the AM shows WAY cheap. Sanwa does not. That's why the price differential from akihabarashop.jp is so big. If you go to a shop in Akihabara, the price diff is about 100 yen at most.

yeah, converting it back is a piece of piss. the normal circuit board inside is held in place by 4 screws. undo those, and snip the wires.
toughest part was that the end of the ps2 controller (that you plug into the console) is too big to go through the circular hole you're left with after taking the circuit board out. so i had to snip the wire from my cheapo ps2 pad real close to the pad, strip it back a bit, solder all the buttons and directions into place, feed the cable through the hole, and then solder the wire to the ps2 circuit board, which was like 8 tiny solder points in a row (my soldering iron is about 1/2 an inch thick
)
i only play wii sports, virtua tennis, and pro evo with my friends; so 1 stick for the supergun is fine really
and no, i don't think i'd sell it really
when the exchange rate gets better i'll do one for my DC as well, which should be loads easier

That looks great and all but how come you didn't just go the converter route? I made sure to get my 8000TB with Sega Saturn, PS1, and PS2 converter cables (somehow, the conversion process used for 1 PS system doesn't work for the other) so that they'd double as arcade and console sticks. I've tried it using a Pelican converter as well and it works fine (although I prefer my modded HRAP2).jpj wrote:my modded 9000TB:

I think the plus and minus of Sigma's sticks is that the edges are so sharp. A great potential weapon since this thing will probably just go right through skin but potentially dangerous if you ever accidentally brush up against it (which I've thankfully never had the misfortune of doing).

Gotta give thanks for the yen to American dollar exchange rate. Might as well bite the bullet and pay through the nose for one, right? Limited production run surely means paying inflated prices on the account that one can't it anymore brand new at the asking MSRP in the nearby future. ^_~

You said the same damn thing about the original black HRAP when it was coming out. It was listed at Play-Asia for $189 at the time. Now the same thing's coming out into the US market for $130.PC Engine Fan X! wrote:Gotta give thanks for the yen to American dollar exchange rate. I'll have to pass on this stick. Perhaps if I can find myself a SF4 TE stick I'll get that.

Actually, I don't think that's entirely true. The HRAP2 SA was going for something ridiculous when it was released, around 200 or so, and retailers surrounded it with limited run hyperbole, but a few months after the initial release I managed to pick a new one up for under 130 shipped on ebay. I was kind of skeptical, considering it was ebay and cheap, but it was legit. And then a friend of mine got the same thing for around 95 dollars, so waiting around for the price to drop after a few months will probably work nicely.PC Engine Fan X! wrote:Gotta give thanks for the yen to American dollar exchange rate. Besides, since Seimitsu doesn't have quite the same widespread renown in the American scene, I doubt demand will be super high at least in America. Then again, I may have absolutely no idea what the hell I'm talking about, so eh.

You lucked out on paying less than retail for your HRAP2-SA variant, AraraSPAMWitch. The smart hard-core gamers already have one of those HRAP-EX SE on pre-order. ^_~AraraSPAMWitch wrote:Actually, I don't think that's entirely true. The 360 HRAPs seem to be actually rarer, while I see a bunch of the HRAP 2 SAs and HRAP 2s on eBay, I almost never see the 360 one, and it's much more expensive.AraraSPAMWitch wrote:Actually, I don't think that's entirely true. In comparison, the PS3 HRAP is pretty cheap and there's always those around. I guess it's just supply and demand. PS3 HRAP makes for a good PC HRAP though, since it's just USB.

I cheated. I have the Sigma official PS/PS2 cable. It's out of production though for some stupid reason.toughest part was that the end of the ps2 controller
hard to get. I'm on the lookout for a 9000TV->Saturn cable. Until then, I have to settle for the 9000TB->NG Cable (thanks ud)->Sigma SS cable.how come you didn't just go the converter route?

GaijinPunch is totally correct. I went to "Try" ( http://www.try-inc.co.jp/ ) and "Mak! Japan" ( http://www.mak-jp.com/ ) in Akihabara during my bento time to compare the Sanwa and the Seimitsu sticks and the later one is actually a few yen more expensive...
I already preordered the Hori Real Arcade Pro EX SE from Hori's website and the delivery is free!! You can even choose the date and time of the delivery!

It already came out a few weeks ago. You can try at the thread created under the Hardware section related to the HARP EX-SE:Elixir wrote:Is this available for preorder anywhere?

For what I can remember, Akihabara shop was sold out just a few days after they opened preorders. Playasia doesn't carry it (only the HARP EX) and the only one I know that still might have it is "ncsx" http://www.shopncsx.com/horirealarcadeproexse.aspx
Good luck!

Well, not all HRAPs do. Most have hori parts. The problem with the wii stick, if I remember correctly, was that if you wanted to put a new stick in it, you would have to cut a hole in the bottom panel as the case is pretty short. I think the buttons are soldered directly to the pcb too. In short, lots of internal modifications.Jockel wrote:Nooooooooooooooooooooo :<
So only the HRAP has a Sanwa stick?
Is it at least moddable?
Back OT, for shooters, I will take a Seimitsu any day of the week, for fighting games, I played on Sanwa sticks for years, so I am used to them. I am only now trying Seimitsu sticks with fighting games, and having some decent results. Button-wise, Seimitsu all the way. OBSF buttons feel shallow. Though, I have noticed I replace Seimitsu buttons a bit quicker than Sanwas....Seimitsu makes those slick skeleton buttons too.
