Nice to finally see some footage of this PS1 shmup!:

I love the graphics, and the explosions sound great! I'm not sure if the player switched ships between levels, but they both look great. What is the meeter on the lower left-hand side of the screen for?
It would be great to see some footage of Time Bokan, but all I can find is the intro to the game and stage one.

Ok this is great. It has a pretty nice twinbee feeling but the bullet patterns are quite modern and somehow frantic (I know that hard mode should be really interesting). The atmosphere of the series is awesomely caught - the bicycle bit is insane
Thumbs up, I'd love to play it.

Alas, Ikaruga is going...
Undesired, unwanted them...
What makes them go?

I saw this in the side bar if it interests you...in any case, both Bokan shooters play pretty similarly, with a few relatively small differences. I plan on mentioning them in my upcoming RB PS1 shooter article.dave4shmups wrote:It would be great to see some footage of Time Bokan, but all I can find is the intro to the game and stage one.
As for the meter, it's filled by collecting "skull" icons, which are mainly gained by bombing stuff (the player here almost never bombs, so you don't see much of it in the video) - once the meter's full you can temporarily transform into a giant invincible robot.
Neither game is worth selling one's soul for, but if you don't mind playing a "non-serious" shooter once in awhile you could definitely do a lot worse.

Don't get your hopes up. They look nice, but the controls are very floaty, and there's like no challenge. Better to stick with TwinBee.

Thanks BM! The weapons do look pretty boring, except for the laser.BulletMagnet wrote:I saw this in the side bar if it interests you...in any case, both Bokan shooters play pretty similarly, with a few relatively small differences.
