xbox360 controllers
what is the best for shoot em ups? the joypad that came with the console seems ok, but i wonder if there any better controllers out there?

Hori made a pad for 360 which I hear has an excellent d-pad, but the controller's in very short supply. Whenever they pop up on eBay they tend to go for ~$80 or so, quite an insane price.
No matter how good a game is, somebody will always hate it. No matter how bad a game is, somebody will always love it.

a few weeks back somebody bought a bunch of those controllers from akihabarashop.com. don't know how much they cost, but Per can probably get them if you were interested.Ghegs wrote:Hori made a pad for 360 which I hear has an excellent d-pad, but the controller's in very short supply. The Street Fighter IV pads might be decent.

Thanks for the mod link, I actually had a chance to try out a 360 pad for the first time last night and I am going to try to buy one today for my PC.
Although to be honest, I found the diagonals a bit too sensitive (i.e. hitting diagonals when I want to just hit ordinal), or maybe I'm just not used to using controllers where I have to make that kind of angle with my thumb to reach the D-pad. I have the same problem with the Dreamcast pad.
edit: LOL, Mad Catz probably never heard of Sanwa before Lizardlick contacted them...
edit2: Picked up a 1st party wired pad just earlier today, and aside from the D-pad (obviously), I am impressed. It is quite comfortable to hold, the software installed easily and there is no detectable lag compared to my PS2 adaptors and Wii Remote via Bluetooth. Emulators are actually playable now. I will surely be cracking it open for the mod as soon as I get home tonight.
