Official Raiden IV thread

From the YouTube videos (http://www.youtube.com/user/otomokanemitsu), it seems almost all, the music comes from Raiden II after a remix operation. I'm not sure about st. 7, though, and the second boss theme is definitely "Go to Blazes!" from the first Raiden.

R4->R2 music

St. 1->St. 4
St. 2->St. 6
St. 3->St. 7
St. 4->St. 2 & 8
St. 5->St. 3
St. 6->St. 5
St. 7->St. 1???

I also checked the katakana used for the bosses' names. I'm not getting anywhere in figuring out what they're supposed to be, though...

Boss 1: e-gu-ze-re-i i-su (The first part is obviously X-Ray, but what's the second?)
Boss 2: o-ru-do, then fyu-ra-su, then ma-i-ra-za-a-do
Boss 3: fa-me-ru ya-a
Boss 4: a-ve-n/e-wa-to
Boss 5: da ru-tyu-ra
Boss 6: i-su-do-ga-a-ra-mu
Boss 7: ho-ru-da ga-a-di-a
True last boss: ho-ru-da gu-shu-i-ru-a-da

According to official site, Raiden IV will receive a Title Update, probably to clear bugs or make improvements and whatnot: http://raiden.mossjp.co.jp/raiden4/x360/support_1.htm

I got the game today. It has an odd issue.

I only get sound effects from the left speaker. The music comes out of both though.

The reused songs in Raiden IV (Arcade) from Raiden II are Level 7, Level 2 & 8, Level 1, and the Boss theme. The two extra levels in the X360 mode also use arrangements of Level 3 and Level 5 from Raiden II. Everything else is original.

Oh, and the Raiden II Level 1 song plays only on the (short) stage section right before the true last boss, on the 2nd loop.

Oh man this last secret achievement seems to be impossible to get!

I saw today that the current #1 player in the world ranking mode, k1414, has already got 46 achievements. He is the only one with 46 and he is missing only the last secret achievement.

So um, I just went through Boss Rush mode with a continue and no achievement popped up. I'm guessing this list is inaccurate.

Yea, it was announced a while back on the official Raiden IV blog that the boss rush mode clear achievements needs to be done with no continues and must be Normal difficulty and above. Look at my updated list on this page here: http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.ph ... &start=330

I just played the game for the first time today and I noticed that too. I'm running the game on a dobly digital 5.1 setup but only the sound effects are playing out of the left speakers.

Hopefully the sound effects problem gets addressed in the upcoming patch. How the hell did this sound effects problem get pass QA? Its like when Guitar Hero 3 came out for the Wii and they shipped it with mono sound only. Thats even worse cause its a music game.

Just got my hands on the 360 version, and it's definitely an improvement over Raiden 3. The stages, bosses, music, even the weapons are better. And of course it's much harder. The 360 extras are cool, too. I like the two new stages in 360 mode.

If you're going to get a 360 for the CAVE ports coming out, you might as well grab Raiden 4, it's worth it IMO.

I ordered mine recently and it came with the soundtrack. Very nice bonus, as Raiden 4 has some nice tunes.

just got this, awesome game! shame there is so much japanese writing for the achivements.

i know its been asked already but i didnt see a definite answer, is it possible to create a jap account for xbox live so you can buy the ships if you are not in japan?

I thought you need a Gold Account which requires a credit card in order to purchase stuff? Or maybe you could have a Silver Account and buy a points card from play asia?

so what is the difficulty of choice here then? arcade and original? wondering the same thing for RFJ too, i been on arcade mostly and aint noticed a huge difference between that and normal like....

To say I got a 360 for RFA this is incredible not the poor Raiden 3.

For last 3 nights on trot Ive shoved this on and couldnt get off it again till 5am. Just hooked on the 360 mode ranking system (as I like to 1 credit for distance) but Ive now started looking for points as much as possible even though I dont make it past level 3

Just a great non manic shmup for me. The only thing whats a shame is the audio as no matter what you do its only got the sound effects from left side (not good if you swap it to 2channel in 7.1 as you get 3 speakers blaring on left lol).

Cant believe I nearly didnt pick this up with the machine as at moment its one of my favs of all time

yup, i got to the point yesterday where i was going to try flipping some of the wiring into the back of the amp.

Agreed, i was all set to pass R4 up, but didn't. Went back to RFA and R4 yesterday after some time off (i haven't played RFA since the week it came out i don't think).

I'm trying to get the Double achievement. I was confident after breezeing the first stage and getting the first one, but it all falls apart pretty soon after that.

Regarding the sound issue with this game - considering Raiden IV was released last March.

Looks like the developer aint going to fix it.

How could such an obvious issue escape the playtesting stage.

Is the Korean version afflicated also?

Huh, the game was released in October. It took RFA a long time for patches to come out too.

I haven't had any sound issues with the game on my 5.1 system tho, might not affect many people so they might not bother with a patch. Who knows.

I've finally sorted getting a JPN 360 and RIV is on it's way. Can't wait for it as recently I've become a whore for Double Play. Id check your 5.1 and listen to your back speakers as it doesnt release sound

Then check your right speaker to find no SFX

Its definetly the game not everyones sound system. Try it with direct to telly 2 speakers ok...erm sound fx on left. Ok then try it with optical and 2 stereo via dash erm ok sound fx on left. Ok then try it with 5.1 again but this time HDMI into your Onkyo 605, erm ok sound fx to left. Ok then try it with HDMI stereo and on and on with direct source into telly....can you see the pattern

Its not even that its coming out in stereo its just got messed up channels (and yes Ive got over 130 360 games all fine). Even if you shove it on stereo via dash you only get SFX out of left channels which is you shove it to 7.1 dolby pro makes it sound ape when 3 speakers on left just have the fx. I can understand it being a stereo game thats fine but it aint its mono really for sound FX and need a patchy.

I shoved my first go on score attack when I got into this other day (1cc died on level 3 I never said I was good lol).

1 round, sorry meant one level. So yes, you get 1 credit and have to get both ships through 1 level for 1 achievement, 3 levels for the next, and through the 5 "light" levels for the 1 round achievement.

I'm fine controlling both ships until i invert them and them my brain spazzes out for a second or two as it gets used to my right hand controlling the ship on the left and vice versa.

how many credits have you used? How big is the Score? Take a photo and show it or we won't believe it. Also HEY where the heck is your beloved under defeat world record? Show score of it too ;-;
