I remember fighting Sheng Long in SF2. 20 Draw matches in a row w/ M.Bison. Now that was tough.

Here's an interesting bit of information: Sheng Long is actually Jackie Chan's mandarin name.

Probably the most famous example of stuff blatantly being lifted is Golden Axe - the death yells/screams are straight from First Blood and Conan the Barbarian. As for Capcom, a bunch of their characters are, um, "inspired by" various rock stars, movie characters, wrestlers etc. (which may or may not be a copyright violation as such; believe it or not, the extent to which a character can be copyrighted is not very clear). Probably the most obvious example is Andore in Final Fight (and, by extension, Hugo in Street Fighter 3) being based on Andre the Giant.
Yeah that's really a good point. Companies in the eighties didn't bother much about copyrights so we all have the right now to play emulators. That makes sense.

So I certainly don't want to raise a discussion about the rights and wrongs of emulation but let me say just one or two things:

The question was why anybody should care about a game that can be played on Mame too? Well, beside the achievements and the online leaderboards there might be some people who want to play the game on a legal way.

Also I for myself wouldn't admit so lightminded that I do illegal things (playing on emulators or whatever) on a public forum like many users here seem to do.
Is this some zany online character you're making up?
