Gradius Level in LBP
I don't have a PS3 and have no idea how one could pull off something like this in Little Big Planet, but I figured you guys would still enjoy seeing this. Wonder if any more shmup-themed levels might be in the works?
Anyways, link is here.

I was impressed that this sort of thing is possible but it still isn't exactly anything but a crude approximation of the level layout. The motion of the ship looked momentum-based, the bullets were affected by gravity, and there were a few other little annoyances. If the LBP editor is limited in this way I don't see anyone making full, fun side-scrolling shmups that play really well beyond this sort of diversionary level recreations.

Hahah good god man, it's clearly supposed to be a novelty. Yes...I think the whole reason this is cool is because Little Big Planet is far from a "game maker", it's a platformer with a nice level editor. The fact he could do all that with the tools provided is freaking awesome. As a shmup, yes, a little questionable, but it was made with very non-shmup tools.

That's just amazing. Unbelievable what some people can do with such a limited editor. Kinda reminds me of insane things made in Spore editors.
Are those turrets built-in or did he find a way to make objects spawn other objects like that?

Not as impressive, but someone attempted a Space Invaders level as well - too bad he had trouble getting the camera to show everything at once.

The Gradius level is pretty hilarious, because of all the bizarre chicanery that went into designing it (I have no idea how any of this works, myself, but it's obvious that it takes advantages of a lot of little quirks when he shoots all of those turrets with one "bullet" that runs into the rock and falls down).
Even funnier IMO is this "Tetris" which not only features a bunch of physics oddities that make it nothing like the game it's based on, but gets absolutely nuts once he hits "level 2" :P
