I'm 6ft dead, feel quite short compared to a few people in here. I'm built like a tank though, so I'm technically bigger lol.
Definetly convinced the next generation is getting taller, the amount of people over 6ft these days is increasing or maybe I'm just more concious of it?
Speaking of heights, I just remembered something interesting...
Back in school there was a pretty renowned biology teacher there. He was well respected for his knowledge and even gave classes overseas at some point. So I ask him the following question:
(It's been a long time, I don't remember the exact words, but it went like this)
---
Me: What determines the lifespan of a person? Let's suppose a group of people who has good health, exercise often and has a good diet. Is there a factor that will determine who will live longer than the others?
Teacher: Yes. That person's height.
Me: Huh?
Teacher: The taller a person is, more minerals and energy will be needed to maintain the skeleton's structure. As time passes, it will be increasingly more difficult for that organism to sustain itself, which will lead to a shortened lifespan. A short, compact body is much easier to maintain, preserving the body's precious resources and leading to a longer lifespan overall.
---
I've never seen anything about it in books or anywhere else, so that may be his personal opinion. Still, he was very knowledgeable in his field, so take it as some food for thought.

Yeah, seems like most of the shorter people like me aren't posting their height. 5'6" here.
Wow - everybody here is pretty tall! At 6ft (ish) I'm below average here.
Maybe there's something in it. Have you ever seen those amazing experiments relating to difference in length of index and ring finger and the way that can be used to predict athletic prowess. I saw a guy measure the distance on ten athletes he had never met, and predict the positions they would come in a race. He got every position right, except third and forth were the wrong way round. It's apparently something to do with exposure to certain things in the womb.
My point is, maybe mothers that make tall babies also make those with a persuasion to playing shmups for whatever reason it is we do it!
And Ceph my friend - I'm never giving in to to metric (well - not totally). I'm all about inches, feat, miles, even yards!
