Fortunately for MS, the types of games and gamers that drive the majority of 360 sales don't care about that stuff. They play games the way people watch movies. Play the big new "blockbuster" when it's released, and then move onto the next over-hyped game. The "big" game that "everybody" is playing is all that matters, as if they're trying to stay in fashion by playing all "cool" games. This repeats until the next console is released; at which time they will stop caring about their 360s.
Isn't that the type of Gamer that drives all console manufacturers?
Newer games by their very nature demand innovation in all areas, be it graphics, sound, story or (shock horror!) gameplay.
what people seem to forget is that every old console they play on was new and cutting edge once, and when it was, the apostles of the previous generation came out and poured scorn all over its new fangled features that just weren't needed. I remember reading an article in a gaming magazine when the PS1 came out complaining about the controller being far to complicated, No console game would ever need 8 buttons and a start and select button! Yeah OK!
But any one who is so closed minded to think that the current generation of consoles is any different to previous generations in anything other than available technology is fooling themselves.
Games consoles are games consoles, nothing more nothing less. There will just as many good and crap games on this generation as every other.
If a console doesn't appeal to you, don't buy it
I LOVE my 360, I love Halo 3, I love XBox Live, just as much as I loved my PS1, Megadrive, Amiga and Commodore 64 when they were new.
I couldn't give a toss what anyone else says.
ps. ths ended up being a bit of a rant, it isn't directed at anyone in particular, just the faceless masses that have nothing better to do than bitch about the current gen
