STGT 2008 - Week #4 Voting (Doujin Week)
No kidding. I mean, Soukyugurentai? How the hell are you supposed to even read that kind of nonsense?lgb wrote:bsidwell wrote:Nearly every single game in MAME isn't free, and therefore isn't legible.

This is like vintage STGT bitching finally, like when Viper Phase won. Seriously, STGT should just be MAME only, and there should be separate doujin and console tourneys. That way people could play what they want and there doesn't need to be any LCD concerns.
btw groobo already broke Xed with mad scoring glitch you are all doomed

Actually, yes.Enhasa wrote:Seriously, STGT should just be MAME only, and there should be separate doujin and console tourneys. That way people could play what they want and there doesn't need to be any LCD concerns.

I had to download d3dx9_36.dll and now Uwabami Breakers works. (and yes, I already had directx 9.0c installed)
To be honest, that's the first time I've read or seen any of that. Where were the people to say this was discussed in the theme/game selection thread?Icarus wrote: That's always been my main argument against doujins in STGT: accessibility for all players, and in the case of doujins, the lack of. I'm sure DJI and everyone else went through this at the end of STGT '06, during the rules discussion that was ongoing and relating to STGT '07. Where were you when that discussion was going on? :p

Xed is fine, that happens when you get the same score twice.
Sorry about the problem with Uwabami Breakers, ED-057.
Uwabami doesnt work for me either.
This seems to be a common factor among many people here......
If this one is chosen, I'll just not bother for this week. It has chaining anyway though, so....... lol.
And Im just not willing to install that funky DLL file. Vista has enough screwball issues as it is, and considering Im running DirectX 10 on here, there really shouldnt be any need for an OLDER file......

I guess that explains the 1999 G3 tower that I've upgraded over the years many times by hand and runs 10.4 very quickly. And the iMac I saved from death with a few minutes of tinkering. And all that software I use every day to create music and keep a job that's been running since the day I bought it without a single crash.some 'aroogooy123' YouTube commenter wrote: Macs are not good.

OT, I have nothing to contribute. MORE SHMUPS!

Typical Mac talk. "I sorted out an extensions conflict! Saved my computer!"kozo wrote:And the iMac I saved from death with a few minutes of tinkering.

Just takin' the piss though...
Hah! Very funny.
No extension conflicts, I'm talking HARDWHERE. And I didn't pay squddily for my upgrades.
When everybody else was playing PS1 games are 10 FPS, Macs had Virtual Game Station in '98 or '99, running beyond 60 FPS with unlimited memory card storage space. Then Sony sued them to high heaven and the product disappeared shortly after being ported to Windows. (That was my PC Engine Fan X impression, did I do you justice? ^_~)
Doesn't matter, I have a PC too. Not gonna get hurt over Mac-slamming. Hasn't changed for the past 10 years.

You don't have to 'install' anything. Just put the file in the game folder.-Bridget- wrote:Uwabami doesnt work for me either.

I have to admit I'm done with Macs. They've been my families home computer and then my own computer since about 1989, so I just get them without question, but I'm so tired of what I miss in terms of gaming, and so tired of feeling like a wanker every time I get my laptop out.
My wife works doing TV editing though, so looks like they'll continue to be my home computer + I'm cack handed with PCs
Don't ask me, just go ahead.Aru-san wrote:This gives me an idea. I'll probably try and host my own Cactus Shmups tourney in this thread. To add more players, would it be also okay to add players from outside the Shmups forum?

They release a new directx 9.0c every couple months but still call it that. Yeah, it's retarded.ED-057 wrote:(and yes, I already had directx 9.0c installed)
Like Ravid says, just put it in the same folder. BTW directx 10 isn't backwards compatible and is something different completely (just pretend it's named something else if you want). Vista actually ships with some old directx 9 files for compatibility, so there's nothing to be concerned about mixing 9 and 10.-Bridget- wrote:And Im just not willing to install that funky DLL file. I guess I was just expecting to see something like this:sikraiken wrote:Every Extend is not a shooter. BWR is good, cave like. Patriot Dark is alright, cave like. CRS68k is pretty long. Please name other good freeware doujin shooters that aren't demos. Some do exist... Also, where were you guys when we had our discussion thread for game/theme selection? Some of you were there, but others...?
1.) An X.X game (probably BWR or BWR+, maybe Eden's Edge).
2.) CRS68k
3.) A Kenta Cho game
I don't think there would be in obvious winner if you put all those against each other.
I didn't really say anything before because I'm only really familiar with the well-known free doujins. BWR and CRS didn't make the cut, others already mentioned the good Kento Cho games, Nomltest actually made it in... I wouldn't have had anything else to add. Warning Forever and Radio Zonde seem popular, but I've hardly played them, nor do I know if they were discussed at all.
Plus, I had my doubts that doujin week would even really happen because of issues that had been raised in previous years (Mac users left out, some Windows users getting garbled Unicode errors or games simply not working).
Like I said before, I don't think any of these 3 are bad, they were just surprising choices.
