For the record, I don't have a PS3 either...and I own more games for PC-88 than any other system. I am a 40 year old Japanese man in the body of a twenty something year old.

Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?
That's bull. The reason why no-one is bitching about PS2 is because if for instance the laser wears out, you can get a new one for ~30 USD and replace it yourself. If your 360 dies (has there ever been a hardware as prone to failure before?), you get the short end of the stick. You have to get it fixed by Microsoft, which they won't do if your Xbox 360 is from Japan and you are in Europe.Strider77 wrote:you know why do some of you guys act like the 360 is the only console on the face of the planet that is notorious for hardware issues.
the PS3 seems very solid and I believe it is. put the PS1 and 2 were total crap also..... I can not tell you how many times I've had to replace drives in my PS2 and in friends. I worked in a few game stores also and we even had a scew for taking busted PS2 b/c it was so common. let alone the HUGE stack of faulty drive systems sitting in the backroom from trade ins.
the only reason folks bitch THIS much about the 360 and not the older sony systems is b/c the 360 is american so it must be stupid.... only japan could ever do anything right.
don't get me wrong... I'm pro japan all the way when it comes to game design ect but not to a blinding point.
If your Xbox red rings, you can fix it yourself. 9 out of ten is a pretty good percentage for success.Ceph wrote:That's bull. The reason why no-one is bitching about PS2 is because if for instance the laser wears out, you can get a new one for ~30 USD and replace it yourself.
No, don't take everything in terms of reported technical problems. Games library, XBLA, third-party support, exclusive games: good machine.Ceph wrote:Are you living is some sort of alternate reality?Skykid wrote:The machine, is good.

I guess your right, as long as it's cheap to fix it yourself it's ok to make it bust. wait.... 360 repairs are free. That's bull. MS enforced some kind of no questions asked fix policy a while back when there was just too much heat over the RROD. I believe its still in effect - a mate sent his back last month and just gave his serial number and they replaced within 5 days. He's had it nearly 3 years now, so not bad.Strider77 wrote: I guess your right, as long as it's cheap to fix it yourself it's ok to make it bust. wait.... 360 repairs are free.

Was the Xbox freezing as soon as it connected to Live?Diabollokus wrote:Weird, I played a DVD in it the other night and it works normally, I think I've undergone a prelude of temporary failure prior to a relapse in the near future. I actually like the console alot, games library has enough to keep me happy with the purchase, but unexplained problems piss me off.
I'm pretty sure something regarding live messed it up, the halo 3 server got really fukked up by the maintenance and the live team did release a couple of patches to fix sever issues. People were affected in various ways + others reported freezing in the halo forums, but strangly every game I played was affected.
