This is not opinion; this is fact.
orly!

I like both, it's a fact that I like both btw.
Difficulty-wise DOJ is MUCH harder than Ketsui. Just look at the highscore threads and keep in mind that much more people have access to DOJ.

for real?

(i was tempted for the triple edit, but we'd be here all day  )

first tune is catchy, but i can't think of what any of the rest is like off the top of my head.

err, on topic: ketsui's soundtrack is very decent, i think. stage 4 is pretty wicked

Yes. Dynasty Warriors is to butt-rock as Ketsui is to butt-techno. Also related on the butt-techno agenda: Chaos Field.

Which version of Ketsui's soundtrack did you hear? I downloaded the one from the actual game, and it just seemed like really forgettable techno that sort of works while you're playing the game, but not something I'd want to listen to in my spare time when I have ESPgaluda, Psyvariar, or GGXX music on my hard drive.

Do you know the difference between techno and drum'n bass? Do you hear a difference between Ketsui and ESP Galuda?

Yeah, and it was some rather forgettable drum'n'bass. It's like this one late-night techno segment on a local radio station. Yeah, a lot of the stuff sucks, but hey, it could be worse, and makes for some nice background music while driving. I just don't remember any of it 5 minutes after getting out of my car.

If it helps your case any, I'd love to play Ketsui but having played Megaman 2 via emulation on my DS today, I'm not really looking forward to it. It feels awkward. I'm not really looking forward to playing it with a 360 controller, either.

Actually I think this makes me lose interest in Ketsui in general. I can't seem to find the PCB (when it was last on Yahoo Japan?) and everyone that does have it wants $1800 for a full kit. Or the bare boards get sniped within minutes.

Also, music doesn't make the game. Be more worried about how it plays.

The Ketsui soundtrack goes very well with the game. It has an odd 'floaty' feel, and has a surprising amount of breaks and syncopation's for what is essentially chip music. With the games comparative lack of slowdown and incessant aimed bullet barrage, the arpeggiated melodies and constant abuse of the Amen Break really give the game a sense of urgency. This is diminished somewhat when not hearing the soundtrack blasting out of an arcade cab.

This leads me On Topic (zomg). My only scepticism surrounding Ketsui DS, that even having accepted that it's a boss rush, is that the game will be somewhat lacking on the sound front. Even with a set of ultra bassy Koss plug type headphone, the DS can hardly create the massive BOOM BOOM of the games boss theme. To be honest, it's a trivial worry, but I really hope the music is remixed in order to sound acceptable on the DS.

As both Ketsui and Pink Sweets have had a stint in our local arcade, I got a chance to immediately decide I hated the OSTs, but with time I grew to love both those bad boys a great deal. My love for Slammin' Vinyl and Dreamscape probably helps with that.

Lol even in Japan a game like this isn't mainstream, and this fella's still trying to convince everyone not to buy it (even before it's out)? wtfg! All signs point to it being kick ass, but they haven't managed to cram a whole pcb ($1000+) onto a DS cartridge, so it's not worth $50, even with its added features. There's probably a new (full) version of some pet-poking game he can spend his money on, I'm sure. All I can say is that I hope this is released on schedule, because it's getting so close and I'm itching to give it a try...

As for the ost's, I love both DOJ and Kestui. I find them quite similar for some reason. Cave games always have stellar soundtracks, if only because there aren't many games these days that they really tack good straight action soundtracks onto (yet they have enough depth to stand up to repeat listenings, some more than others obviously). And of course the Pink Sweets ost is amazing, as many others have said. I'm still very partial to the Progear tunes, but no one else ever seems to even mention that one. It really hits the spot with me for some reason.

Since I'm getting rather tired of splitting this thread every couple of days I'm going to try a different approach. I'm going to lock it temporarily. Not permanently, just for a while until some heads cool down. Might be two days, might be a week. Don't know yet. Then I'll completely unceremoniously unlock it. If some actual, concrete news and/or information concerning the game pops up in the mean time, just PM me about it.

EDIT: Temporary lock lifted.
No matter how good a game is, somebody will always hate it. No matter how bad a game is, somebody will always love it.

Mihara has announced the demo is available on "DS station." I get the impression this was meant to be possible via the Wii, but I've got no idea. Maybe a JP Wii is required?

According to a Wii obsessed colleague, while in theory any region DS can play any region DS Station demo, you do need the right region Wii to access the right region of DS station....

It's not difficult to change the region of your Wii if you do the Twilight Princess hack and install the Homebrew Channel.

download stations are those things that are setup in public, where people can download demos. they're usually dumped as well :D
if someone finds a dump, feel free to post it here.
it's a demo, it's not illegal to share those.
edit: just read up on it, its on the japanese wii - i'll try and download this now.

ok it worked and i played it.
its pretty cool, as expected.
there should be a dumping tool for this, but i don't know it for sure.
if you know how to, (and which tool) please post here or PM ^^
So far i only made it to the 3rd (or 4th?) loop of doom.
Score is a lousy 108,249,190.
There is autobombing, but if it happens all your bombs are gone, not just one.
so yeah you should still try to bomb ;)

That might help I'm not really sure. I really hope you could get this dumped I'm dieing to try it.

more in depth look at how you can dump DS roms..I'm not entirely sure this would work due to it being stored in system ram. Good luck.
