Before someone recommends it, I already have a Japanese 360..
Thanks!

Had a higher opinion of the system before they took out hardware BC.Etrian wrote:[...] what do you think of the PS3 so far?
That would be the PS3 console with the 80GB HDD and a copy of Motor Storm included at the MSRP of $499.00 USD. That special PS3 console bundled packaged deal has long since been discountinued. Good luck finding it if you want that particular version.honorless wrote:Had a higher opinion of the system before they took out hardware BC.Etrian wrote:[...] what do you think of the PS3 so far?
The only games I'm vaguely interested in so far are on PSN.
If I were you I'd save up for a PCB, especially since you've already got a pretty top-tier SG. Take advantage of that shit.
But just in case it's important to you and you weren't already aware, it seems like PS2 BC is being removed entirely from the PS3. Sony says they want to take a two-SKU approach from now on, and their two newest models are 80 & 160GB with no BC. I think the 80GB with software BC has already been discontinued, but I dunno.
I recommend getting one, if you can afford it, and have a nice HDTV to hook it up to. The combination of PSN download titles, Blu-ray movies, and region-free import friendly Blu-ray games is great, and the build quality of the console is the highest on the market. The controllers are kind of uncomfortable though, but it's not a deal-breaker.Etrian wrote:Heya guys. Just looking for opinions here.. what do you think of the PS3 so far? Lately I've been playing with one and it's quite fun.
You're right.. I'm not rich by any means, nor wealthy, but I just can't find them. Honestly I really want either Ketsui or Futari, but haven't had any luck in getting one. Not really interested in the full kit.. just the board.. which makes it worse.honorless wrote:If I were you I'd save up for a PCB, especially since you've already got a pretty top-tier SG. I'm not sure if the newer PS3 consoles with 40GB HDD have the previous metioned auto-swtiching internal power supply. You could try e-mailing Play-Asia and see if they do. And if they do, by all means get one! ^_~Etrian wrote:You're right.. I'm not rich by any means, nor wealthy, but I just can't find them. As for waiting for the Ketsui 360 release.. it has no release date, it's done by a dating simulator company, and... there's no release date! I could be waiting a year for this thing to come.
Do the newer (40GBs on play-asia) PS3s have a universal power supply? Or do I have to find a 220v PS3 power adapter? They're much cheaper to purchase there, instead of locally.
HDMI can output at 480i/480p, 720i/720p and at 1080i/1080p.TLDragoon wrote:I'm not for sure what resolutions the PS3 outputs Blue-Ray offhand, but it doesn't require 1080p.
It's vice versa for the HDMI cables. 1080p output requires HDMI cables, but HDMI can be used to output other resolutions.
Blu-ray movies can play in 1080i, and everything else. It is also possible to buy things out of the JPSN store. All you need to do is make a japanese psn account, and get a japanese psn card, which I believe are available on ncsx.com. A google search will find you instructions on how to create the account. There's quite a few good shooters on there, like G-Darius, R-Type Delta, and Einhander, along with about 100 other ps1 titles.Etrian wrote:Do blu-ray movies require 1080p, or can they be played in 1080i/720p? I have a HDTV, but it only goes to 1080i maximum.
Same question, but for HDMI cables.. is 1080p a requirement? If anything, I would be buying the 40GB one, which doesn't have PS2 compatibility..
Oh! One last thing. Is it possible to buy stuff on the JP PSN store?
I agree, though PS1 games are barely passable. Which Guilty Gear Game looks good? I played one once on PS2 and it was really nice looking/playing, but it was so long ago... I can't even remember what it was called, exactly.RackGaki wrote:If you can find a PS3 with full or partial PS2 b/c, buy it. Games like Guilty Gear, Metal Slug, Gradius V, and God of War look beautiful upscaled. Playstation 1 games even look passable.
A different PS3 would work just fine, but b/c is worth an extra $130 or more. It all looks better, even in 1080i.
I've played Guilty Gear X, X2, Isuka, and Accent Core; the sprites pretty much stayed the same for the PS2 ports, additional movesets and characters notwithstanding. I just play Accent Core now - picked up the series for the visuals, stayed for the game.professor ganson wrote:Which Guilty Gear Game looks good?
