I managed to cut those two stupid gray tabs out of the inside of my SNES. It's a Super Famicom now

Why? You're ignoring the fact that the SNES is easier to import for than either of these two systems since the Genesis has only a few shmups worth importing (most of the good stuff came to the US) and not many cheap ones, the PC-Engine import adapters are expensive, and the SNES is very easy to mod for imports (However, the PCE CD is a bit easier to import for since that doesn't have region protection, though some of the games for it are expensive). Pop 'n Twinbee is definatly worth importing, though it's not Japan only. There are also Macross Scramble Valkyrie, Cotton 100%, Cosmo Gang the shooting, and the Parodius games (one or two of these are definatly available in Europe), all of which I heard good things about. None of those will cost over 100 dollars like certain Mega Drive/Genesis imports either. I got Pop 'n Twinbee for about 20 dollars.Cthulhu wrote:The SNES has some really good shmups, but it doesn't have many of 'em, even in Japan. May I suggest a Mega Drive or PC-Engine for your 16-bit Japan-only shmups?

Yeah, All 3 Japanese Rockman X's are cheaper, though I did manage to cop a US X2 for $27, not too bad but not great. I don't think it's really worth all that much...hell, Mega Man X3 isn't even worth that much, it's because people bid like idiots that the game sells for so high on ebay. I wouldn't say the game is worth any more than about $30-$40 at most, screw this used copy selling for $100 shit. Damn ebay n00bz, they can have it for that price. The Japanese Rock X's are obviously a much better investment, as the games are essentially identical, save for the really bad Engrish...you got to love "Explose Horneck", "Frost Buffalio", and a variety of other Japanglish names, some I can't really make out.A wise decision. If you want the best games out there, you'd better start importing fast.
I did the same with Rockman X3, and X2. I also bought the Saturn version of X3 for only $25 + shipping, which is a great port with some cool anime cutscenes. But I still prefer the soundtrack in the original SFC/SNES version.
Nice...I managed to get my US MM7 for $19, also not too bad but not great. Again, Mega Man 7, X3, etc aren't necessarily extremely rare or anything, it's just that it never fails - every time an X3 goes on ebay, some retarded 13 year old always comes along and says OMG MEGAH MAN X3 LOOOOOOOOOOOL TIS GAEM IS TEH RARIST OF EVAR I WIL BID $50000000000000000000000!!!!111111111111I recently bought Rockman 7 for my SFC, complete and in excellent condition, for $14 + shipping. I was gonna bid on the SNES version on eBay, but the price was just too freaking high. I think it got up to $34, and it was only on the 5 day of a 7 day auction. I'm glad I passed.
I heard a rumor that Capcom might be releasing a Megaman X Collection for the GC and PS2 in the near future. That would be nice.
EB lists it, though that's not saying much. Apparently only through X6.Dark Saibot wrote:Nice...I managed to get my US MM7 for $19, also not too bad but not great. Multiply that by about 5 or 6 bidders and you've got a 100% guarantee that every SNES Mega Man auction goes to shit.
I've also heard the rumor about the Mega Man X collection...I don't know if it's actually been confirmed by Capcom, or just a rumor created from wishful thinking by fans after the Mega Man Anniversary Collection came out. If they do come out with it, it'll likely only include X-X6, as X7 and X8 are both on PS2 and fairly recent, though I wouldn't be suprised if they included a few extra/hidden games.
Yeah, I researched it a bit, apparently it will include X-X6 and some Mega Man Chase game that was never released in America...interesting.EB lists it, though that's not saying much. Apparently only through X6.
It's not. What I was driving at is that people bid ridiculous amounts of money on it, while knowing little or nothing about it. Mega Man 5 and 6 used to sell for ridiculous amounts of money also, but lately the price on those two seems to have gone down a bit.Anyone want to tell me why X3 is supposed to be so friggin rare?
yeah, and also because they both suck. Cell-shaded graphics and Megaman do not go together, IMO. Both X7 and X8 were very dissapointing to me.Dark Saibot wrote:as X7 and X8 are both on PS2 and fairly recent

True...though why is the japanese version so cheap? They must have only printed a limit quantity on the US version.MegaMan X3 was released in the twilight years of the SNES.
Thusly not too many copies were produced.
It's not common, but it's also not rare enough to warrant the $300+ price tags.
