That actually sounds like an awesome idea.It needs a mode where you play at max rank and can't attach anything

Apparently comes out on Jan 7th. The level editor/creator sounds pretty cool--apparently you can change bullet patterns, ship types, layout, etc. How deep the editing goes, I don't know.
Is there still anything behind the rumor that some other games (like rRootage) might be included?

Anyone else snag this?
I played through the campaign on Rookie difficulty and it was a breeze. Granted I died a bunch of times(mostly on bosses) but this game is EXTREMELY generous with extends.
By the time I hit the final boss I had 99 lives(due to all the crap I was carrying I got another life every three seconds)
Unlocked Tumiki Fighters btw, which looks great and being able to play it while on the couch is awesome.
Unlocked Rrootage as well, which also plays just swell.
The modders haven't wasted any time it looks like...

You can also put together your own bullet patterns. Hey look it's the final boss from every other Cave shooter!

I will pick it up later this week (assuming stores have it.)
Can you edit enemy bullet patterns? (I assume this is true from what I've seen.)
What are the controls like?
Edit: For anyone interested, there's a guy on the gamefaqs board who is one of the programmers.

They offer Wii Remote controls (no motion sensing outside of the menus) and also classic controller support. There is no gamecube controller support so those who prefer the special HORI or Pelican traditional gamecube gamepads are s.o.l. REALLY solid package and game. I do feel the their designs maintain Kenta Cho's vision but he used slightly better colors. The game is very fun and plays much like the original only with different ships and parts. There are two buttons (hide parts) and fire. The bullet patterns aren't quite as artsy as a traditional shmup but you can be sure that the game is challenging even on easy. The music is nothing special thought, they do maintain the warning klaxon from the original games.
I was very happy to see reoccurring mention of Kenta Cho. I hope he was compensated for all of his coding.

Some of the best shmups don't actually end in a vowel.
No, this game is not Space Invaders.

I really hope creating bullet patterns goes beyond THAT. There will be tons of dickcopter shmups with bullet snowstorms like this example I guessPepsimanVsJoe wrote: http://www.blastworksdepot.com/games/blastworks/1274

Heh.What's worse is that when you lose all your continues, you don't have the option of picking up from the last level you successfully completed - you've got to start all over again from the beginning of the campaign mode.

For those who want to make a more "traditional" shmup, fear not - it's possible to make enemies that can't be attached, and I've even figured out how to make a "powerup capsule" using the advanced editor options that doesn't shoot at you, but when you shoot it down and catch the center thing that comes out you get an additional weapon.
From what I've seen of the editor so far, it should be easily possible to recreate some classic Gradius bosses.

Very true. I'm surprised no one here has posted any of their creations in this thread.professor ganson wrote:This is such a cool release. I'm really surprised that there isn't more talk about this here. Honestly, this is more fresh and interesting than a new Cave release. And I like Cave.
On another note, the 2-2 boss makes me cry tears of hate and rage.

I was in GameStop tonight, and they had already reduced this to $19.99 (from $39.99)-- while still displaying it in the new release rack! So they've already decided that this game isn't going to sell at normal price, in spite of the strong reviews and large number of Wii owners. Sad thing is, they are probably right...
