I'd like to check out NG2, but I haven't really been following it.

I've only seen a few clips of NG2 but the new weps really kick ass, I just hope they keep the difficulty of the first title and don't make this a devil may cry 4 entry into the series.

New metal gear seems green? you mean eco-friendly? I felt it seemed a little sand coloured/grey since most of the pics and vids come from the middle east section of the game.

I watched a gameplay vid of MGS4 awhile back and was struck by the fact that Snake used a big ass sniper rifle that was loud as fuck and guards in the immediate area didn't seem to notice. Seems a bit.... odd.

I meant that the color green seems to dominate most of the screen shots I have seen of the game. It still looks pretty cool, the color just seems a little over used. Maybe its just me.

i don't particularly care for either series - never really liked Metal Gear all that much, and although I loved the NES Ninja Gaiden games, Itagaki's douchebaggitude has pretty much permanently turned me off to any of his newer projects.
You're arguing for a universe with fewer waffles in it. I'm prepared to call that cowardice.

Have you played the Xbox one yet or is your hatred of Itagaki so strong you haven't tried it yet?

Yes, I've played the Xbox one. I thought it was mediocre. I still far prefer the NES games.

in other words he hardly gave it a shot or just doesn't care for a challenge.

honestly?!? for real?!?

the 8 bit gaidens were nothing special... they had cut scenes in a 8 bit game. but gameplay.... nothing really out doing shinobi.

now... ninja gaiden is a better game in 3D than ninja gaiden ever was when it was 2D.

plus it's kinda stupid to dislike a game b/c one of the folks who made it doesn't fit your buddy list type. do you really think you'd like every person responsible for a game, movie or cd you happen to like.
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

I loved Ninja Gaiden on the Xbox. I didn't even have an Xbox when it came out and I still bought it so I could play it on my roomate's Xbox. The ridiculousness of some of the fights just made it pure awesome. :)

Lol, nice try, but I think you have it backwards. The nes games are hard as hell! I also tried it and wasn't that impressed, I guess I hate a challenge too

Yeah this kind of reminds me of the guy who said he didn't like Cowboy Bebop because somebody he hates happens to like it. People these days...

yeah but those games were very cheap in their difficulty. Ninja Gaiden, the newer ones, are incredibly fair. When I died it always felt it was on me.... it was my bad.

the older shinobi games were like this also.

Imho the combat system of NG was the fairest of any 3D fighting game of the previous/current gen. If you don't block and role you die, god of wars is nice but ninja gaidens is just that bit better. It took me a longtime to understand the essence charge system. i.e. charge when near yellow orbs to unleash an instant power attack, simple but didn't need to use it until I played hard mode + bonus fights.

I still haven't beaten all the bonus missions, some of the later ones with the ancient great demons are insanely tough. All the extra stuff for hard difficulty rocked aswell, clones and robots etc. I haven't touched it since the summer I'd probably be unable to beat murai on normal now.

Anybody else remember Itagaki talking with a Tecmo vet (at the time Itagaki joined, so I dunno, like 1998?) who said he'd worked on the Ninja Ryu- titles but didn't remember a thing about them?

Yeah, there's obviously a huge gap in the pride behind the product from then and today. I won't piss on anybody for liking the NES games, as they're alright, but it's much harder to make good games today.

Also, Xbox NG's combat rules to a degree few NES games can match due to the restrictions of a 2D game (ugh, jumping to "aim upwards" and stopping to take sword slashes).

I like NG on the Game Boy (but apparently it's really a Shadow of the Ninja game, or something).
