Help with Shmups released in the US

Post by seattlexc »

I was wondering if I could have some help with coming up with all of the shmup titles that released in the US. I need some help from you shmups gods!! I’m mainly concerned about the SNES, Genesis, and every system afterwards.

Here is what I have so far. Sorry, I don’t know much about the most systems.

SNES:
Aero Fighters
Axelay
Biometal
Earth Defense Force
Darius Twin
Fire Power 2000
Graduis III
Phalanx
R-Type III
Raiden Trad
Space Mega Force
Super R-Type
Super Nova
Thunder Spirits
UN Squadron

PS1:
Einhander
G Darius
Gekioh - Shooting King
Nanotek Warrior
Mobile Light Force
R-Types
R-Type Delta
Raiden Project
Raystorm
Raycrisis
Rayforce
Sol Divide
Striker 1945
Thunder Force V
Viewpoint

PS2:
Gradius V
Gradius 3 and 4
R-Type Final
Silpheed
Mobile Light Force 2
Chaos Field (coming soon I think)

Gamecube:
Ikaruga

These are all I could come up with, and I don’t know much about the Saturn or any other system. I would be very grateful for any help you could give me. Thank you very much!!

Dreamcast: Gigawing, Gigawing 2, Mars Matrix, Gunbird 2, Bangai-O and Cannon Spike (debatable)

PS2:
Castle Shikigami 2

PSOne: Space Shot, Sanvein

Rayforce didn't get a PSOne release, it did however show up on the Saturn as "Galactic Attack".

Chaos Field is supposedly forthcoming for the Gamecube. I think Star Soldier got a GC release too.

It did, but never a US release, I believe.
No matter how good a game is, somebody will always hate it. No matter how bad a game is, somebody will always love it.

Star Soldier: Vanishing Earth however did appear in the US as the only shooter on the N64. There's also Philosoma for the PS.

Off the top of my head you can add Blazeon and Strike Gunner STG onto the SNES list...I'm pretty sure there are even more than that though.

Don't forget D-Force (not to be confused with Darius Force aka Super Nova) on the SNES.

Better yet, do forget it. :P

USA Saturn got Darius Gaiden, Layer Section, and one other I can't remember (In the Hunt perhaps?)

It's best not to limit yourself to US releases only though. Importing's easy and on the whole the games are better.
