Toaplan sound emulation issues in MAME
Sorry if this has been discussed before - searched and couldn't find any topics on it.
I am just wondering why sound is often not emulated in Toaplan games in MAME? Is it something to do with an encrypted sound ROM or something?

Unfortunately I have heard similar thingsMaster O wrote:Oh, and if you bother any of the mamedevs about it, it will take 3 times as long to get it emulated.overkill55 wrote:Thanks for the link, some great info on there. If I controlled the priority list, those would be number one for sure!
I give you fair warning right now.
Is this the same group that was given the Ketsui to dump or was that someone else? I remember "The Guru" being mentioned

AFAIK Guru only dumps data from PCBs, he has nothing to do with getting them to work.overkill55 wrote:Unfortunately I have heard similar thingsMaster O wrote:Oh, and if you bother any of the mamedevs about it, it will take 3 times as long to get it emulated.overkill55 wrote:Thanks for the link, some great info on there. Holy s***! I didn't know it was SO complicated.

Be thankful it only kills the sound...otherwise you wouldn't be able to play some Toaplan games (Fixeight, Dogyuun, I think Vimana, and of course Fire Shark, and some others like the crazy Arkanoid clone) period.
Personally, they need to get GI Joe working again first :P This is a close second though.

Haha, post of the week. Thank you sir!GaijinPunch wrote:At least they know though. And knowing is half the battle. This is a close second though.
Funny you should say that though...I walked into a GameStop last week and asked the guy how he was doing, and he said "I'm here, that's half the battle" and that line came into my mind.
half the battle = knowing
other half = being there
third half = overtime pay?

I probably would've said, "What's the other half? Not physically assaulting the customers?"walked into a GameStop last week and asked the guy how he was doing, and he said "I'm here, that's half the battle" and that line came into my mind.
