who says i want to argue? i have no idea what points that dude raises other than 1 vid which i had previously seen about sharia law. why don't YOU go to the effort of typing up his main points and write a mini-essay on the subject.

You're right, I should make an essay or the like myself about this instead of reffering to his youtube rants. I'll admit being lazy though, and he just says about my every thought in his vids.

yeah, i suppose so. but as you've noted, it would be best under a more neutral thread title, to get a good balanced discussion going

personally, i'm quite fascinated with religion. but what is suprising to me is that you have normal atheists, who say they don't believe in god, and tend to mind their own business. and then you have atheists who say they don't believe in god, and that believing in god is one of the worst things to do in the world, and can't stop telling other people what to do or how to think.

most people are born with two ears and one mouth. use them in that ratio

And you're right I think.

you're saying that believing in god "doesn't make sense to me". does this even matter? can you see that religion (whether you believe or not) - for 99.9% of people - has a positive affect on them as a human being? i've got a fair few religious friends, and they're good, decent people. most atheists i know can't SHUT UP about religion

I think we have some common ground there.

Religion was invented (well the one most in the west are living to anyway) to give people a moral guide. Even without the existance of the "God" in these stories, the moral guide would still be a valid one though.

that's true. but being an atheist doesn't exactly enrich someone's life. also, i wouldn't really use the word "pretending". i think a better word is "claiming", when in context.
