Embarrasingly vain button question...

Post by spadgy »

Lame I know, but I'm remodding my Virtua Stick High Grade, and I want the top buttons (PS, Start, Select ect.) to be the same colour as all the re-modded stuff.

Obviously these are smaller than stuff like OBF-30RGs which are soon to be the main buttons. Any idea where you can get replacements of those top buttons?

Or maybe just a button supplier who does every sized button under the sun? Quality doesn't matter too much as I'm not going to be hammering 'start' like I'd hammer 'X'...

EDIT - OK - I see there's a lot of different, Sanwa and Seimitsu buttons, so I guess I need to just take mine out and have a look and measure the size. But has anybody replaced these, thus already knowing what fits in?

Um, they're actually common button sizes. Action buttons are almost always 30mm and start buttons are 24mm. No exception on the VSHG; you can get Sanwa's OBSF-30 and OBSF-24 everywhere (for example, Akihabarashop.jp) since they're the most common sizes.

Yeah - I use them, so I'll have a thorough browse.

Thing is, OBSF-24's are 24mm, and PS, Selct, L2 and R2 on the VSHG are 15 or 16mm.

My mistake on the Start button though - that is a OBSF-24, so I do need one of those... but the others a fair bit smaller...

Sanwa makes 18mm pushbuttons, but I dont think you're going to be able to redrill for those & squeeze everything in; and if you did, you'd have to rewire the entire top row of buttons after taking out the auxiliary pcb.

Just replace the start button with a 24mm sanwa in appropriate color, then pull out the select & etc buttons and spraypaint them. Sounds stupid but it works & doesn't look bad at all.

Exactly what I was thinking Cody... Thanks for confirming that it's a reasonable idea...

Looks like a trip to the local art supply store is in order on the way home from work...
