Fortunately, they do~

Breaking a US console in Japan, on the other hand, unless you mail to Microsoft's North American Xbox division through APO/FPO (and you must be at least a military dependent) will not be covered under warranty.

The North American Xbox division people are pretty nice. :)

Also- do we have a definitive "if a JP console breaks in the US- it gets replaced with a JP console"?
that's exactly what they did for my friend shayla.
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

But that's just for the US, right? What about Europe, Australia and NZ?

I find it very hard to believe that they would do something like that. Everyone I've spoken to who's had to deal with Microsoft and lives in the states have had a lengthy ordeal trying to get their console/s repaired, and that's just for a replacement of the same type.

They're way better than the people handling Windows XP product activation keys.

Europe isn't North America. I know they're still baka gaijin (white people in japanesu), but it just isn't. And it's standard operating procedure to replace a case that's been modified or tarnished, in the case of the guy who had a bunch of Bungie signatures on his 360 (and got them again without a hitch.)

They do that because they have the consoles on hand, and apparently NA assumes people immigrate. I'd rather have 2 to 3 months to wait for a console then spending 3 hours on the phone being accused of pirating/breaking the EULA transferring my XP OEM key to another computer.

The "EXTRA" menu in this game also allows you to choose different ships for the various games (as in, type), which I can only assume is from the different arcade variations that each game was given.

Love to stay and chat, but I'm off to play now.

Secret ones are down at the bottom there. The “Shot Down” one is peculiar. You don't get any points for it apparently.

Oh, I quite like joke/punishment achievements - it'd be nice if more games included them. A couple of other games have something similar to that, then there are the DoA4 ('Lost five matches in a row = 0 points") and Bullet Witch ("Insane difficulty complete = 1 point") ones.

As far as MS replacing Japanese units with Japanese units goes, why not give them a ring or email and ask, see what response you get? I'm holding off on doing so myself, because I don't want to tempt fate.

This post gave me an idea:

Region locking games could be an idea to move more 360s via importing to westerners. Obviously, Erinyes/Erifu fell for it already.

Joke achievements are alright; I never got the Purple Heart in Battlefield 2 (5 kills / 20 deaths), which was consistently a source of a little bit of pride.

Yeah, the price at Play-Asia just went up on the 360 Arcade version, no doubt thanks to the high yen. I managed to get one before the price went up. It's really nice, with HDMI output. Shiki 3 barely strains it. If you limit yourself to 30-minute gaming sessions, it'll last for years and years.
I've been through several US systems already- one I babied the crap out of- it didn't last any longer than one that I earned around 18k gamerscore points on.

That being said- I wish you the best of luck!

Also- do we have a definitive "if a JP console breaks in the US- it gets replaced with a JP console"?
Do you have one now? I wonder if the US Arcade 360's are more durable; you should be able to play a console for longer then 30 minute spurts. I'd love to get a 360, but any one would look like crap on my standard def TV.

Plenty of gamers I talk to have no idea what Raiden is beyond Mortal Kombat, (until I mention the word "shooter", and then some still don't!) but UFO still might bring this over, which would rock! :D

So I'm supposed to feel bad that I pay half price or less on 360 games, and don't have to wait 6 months for them to come out in the UK?

Yeah, right.

If you did, people would deliberately kill themselves over and over for points. Which is really pointless.

Okay, I admit I was just splashing some random uncalled-for haterade your way. I wouldn't want to guilt trip you over making that choice.

I still think you should call yourself Erinyes, though it doesn't really fit your personality. I also still think that I could be right about the reason for region locking 360 games; it seems like at least a factor in that decision.

I'm not sure if this is a big deal but.. I've played this 3 times, and all 3 times it's randomly and completely frozen for no reason, forcing me to turn my 360 off.

I wasn't going to worry about it but it's done it three times now. It's strange, because it isn't happening with my other 360 games whatsoever, and my RFA disc is flawless.

If this happens again, I'll mention it.

In other news.. I'm rank 11th on Xbox Live for one of the ships. According to Xbox Live, there's only around 800 people ranked, so I wouldn't be at all surprised if this sold under 5000 copies at launch.

Can someone tell me how you unlock the fairy as a playable character in RF2? Thanks.

Yes-Asia or Play-Asia seem to be the most reliable. If you sign up at StrikeBang, you can get a $10 off coupon.

Ok, now I'm worried. The game has just frozen on me for the fourth time for absolutely no reason, in a random spot. I'm guessing that the disc might be faulty.

Unless the freezing is happening due to a game-specific crash bug (possible), or you have a visibly damaged game disc...

Random freezing of Xbox 360 games may be a sign that your console hardware is approaching Red Ring of Death...

I contacted them 3 different times. First one ignored the question & gave generic repair process info. Second one dodged the question again. Third one said they couldn't answer the question unless a repair ticket had already been started with a JPN serial number . . .

Like I said before, YMMV, but I would not count on receiving warranty service on a jpn console in the US.

As for playing it in 30 minute spurts . . . I've been told by xbox developers that to minimize thermal stresses (which are responsible for at least some of the problems), its most important to go back to the dashboard & let the fans run for a while before turning the machine off.

This is the only Xbox 360 game of mine which has this problem. None of the others have ever frozen on me. I've gotten "disc cannot be read" a few times from a handful of my games, but they didn't just outright freeze and force me to turn my console off.

There's nothing visible on the disc whatsoever, it's pretty much a flawless copy. I'm thinking the disc might be flawed.

Edit; OK, I'm 100% positive that my copy of the game is faulty. Boss movement sounds from a level carry over to the next, pausing the game makes the sound stop entirely, and after pausing the game I'll randomly get the "stage clear" song while in the middle of battle.

I've had my copy freeze on me a couple times similar to what Etrian has experienced, and there have been a few music glitches. :(

No other 360 game I've had has done that. Could my disc be a bad copy?
Kinect? KIN NOT.

they go by your serial number.... I gave them my serial number to see what they said and they told me it was covered. just like my friend shayla.

honestly if you want one I'd get it from NCSX and express your concerns. let them know you want one with a HDMI port do to the garenty of that version being newer ect. they work with me all the time on stuff like this ect. peter is a great guy.

plus I understand the concern... but I had to buy a second import wii b/c the drive went bad in the 1st one. if you google it you'll see quite a few wii drive issues floating around. it's always a risk on importing a system. just be sure to buy only if you are SURE you will be getting a newer 360.

I started to read the 2ch thread on the game, and it seems like it's not just you- plenty of other people are reporting freezing and that weird thing with the boss music.

eta: Here we go

http://www.success-corp.co.jp/blog/raid ... ces-2.html

They apologise for the faulty discs and are definitely going to put out a patch for the game, only they can't say when. They just say they are working on it now and it could take time so please be patient etc.

Apart from fixing the bug, they also want to include some other things in the patch and list three examples at the bottom of the post- (be able to 'interact' with friends on the x box live leaderboard (not sure what that means), configure keys in the yoko mode, and set up a default name for the 'name entry' on the scoreboard.)

As soon as the patch is finished they'll announce it on the site. I get the impression they're working pretty hard on it.

They also say that if there's anything you'd like to see in the update, send them a comment using the form on the site.

I'm definitely waiting until this update is released before picking up a 360.

Oh, and in case you were wondering
(世の中はエイプリルフールですが、今回の更新はエイプリルフールネタではありません。)
