Today, I just saw a video on YouTube which strongly suggests about somebody using a Nintendo DS to play perhaps a special arrangement of Cave’s 2007 arcade game Deathsmiles on GBA (you can tell by the advanced “Game Boy” opening screen there near the beginning of the vid). Here is the link for you right now:

Likewise. It's called 'Miku Smiles' from what my meagre brain can deduce. A Death Smiles pastiche with Hatsune Miku as the protagonist looks fairly cool anyway.
check it out......bulletGBA will own your ass..vulkanon is decent....
and to be honest you are better off playing these on a PSP with GPSP(gba emu)
I was thinking more of official GBA releases, but these are cool. I don't really consider bullet simulators to be shmups, cause let's face it .. you aren't actually shooting at anything
yes...i guess i didnt include emulation in that statement.....but to be honest i dont really like playing arcade emus on PSP cuz with the controls i really suck at games i usually do well at.....its frustrating
i dont know if its freeware or not, but im definitively gettin it whenever its made public. it's been awhile since last time i used my GBA, but it seems like its gonna get on the road again.
The characters' detail is decent, but they could afford to be just a tad smaller. Aside from that- I liked it. The BGM is amazing.
If this goes public as a download, I'll be looking for a flashcart. Nintendo needs to understand that flashcarts are TRULY intended for homebrew stuff, not just "backups".

Sounds like the "Guns don't kill people" argument.

I was going to start a new thread for this, but since the conversation has meandered to GBA shooters in general, perhaps this would be the best place for it. In the the french "history of the shooting game" documentary, we see someone making a homemade, hori danmaku game. Unfortunately, no information at all is given on it, including a name. Are there any savvy people on the forum that have managed to dredge up any info on this? Because it looks absolutely amazing, and I'm guessing if it has been released, it must surely be freeware given the format.

Steel Empire/Empire of Steel - I liked that on the GBA. Dated maybe, but great when it came out...
