I am talking stuff like hidden messages, hidden games, images, you name it.
It's not like there are any more appropriate weekends to ask this question....
Wait, what special mode? I own the game and know of no special mode. :OBrianC wrote:

I understood easter eggs to just hidden little things - a pointless room in an adveture game with some joke, an silly extra on a DVD accesible through some hidden menu screen, a tiny game hidden behind something else...ROBOTRON wrote:I always thought "easter eggs" meant cheats. There are many, many shmups that had cheats like invincibility, extra lives, etc.
So Plasmo - what defines an easter egg? A substancesless extra? That's what I was getting at, and I'm sure the first ever one was an extra room in a very old adventure game - maybe even a text adventure. I guess I was a little off with my suggestion of a hidden minigame, but they certainly call hidden DVD extras Easter Eggs in the industry...Plasmo wrote:Most of you don't seem to know what "easter eggs" are...its not about cheats and/or secrets/hidden bonusses.
The only real easter egg i can think of is in Batsugun, last boss fight. The boss shoots some huge missiles where "Dogyuun" is written on. Quite cool eh?
Oh and if you bomb the trees in Pink Sweets Stage 1 you get the infamous flamingoes flying out. You don't get any points for that at all.

That page is a bit off. Adventure was the first easter egg in a video game to get found, true...but there were a few Channel F that had come out years prior that had easter eggs in them. Like Adventure, it showed the programmer's name.Plasmo wrote:@spadgy

The most well know easter egg is/was Dopefish. Unfortunately i haven't seen him in AGES.
BrianC's probably talking about the individual ending pics for each difficulty.RuffNEC wrote:how that? I know the ending is different from the JP Version to US/PAL one.
I feel they count since you have to press a button to get them and they don't appear normally. The code is listed at gamefaqs now too.Vincent Draconis wrote: BrianC's probably talking about the individual ending pics for each difficulty.
Could those really be considered easter eggs, though?
There are a couple Goemon/Mystical Ninja games with Konami shmup references. Goemon 1 SNES/Mystical Ninja has the first level of Gradius, Goemon 2 SNES has the second level of Xexex, Goemon 4 SNES has an unlockable version of Time Pilot, and Goemon DS has a Quarth mini game with Big Core as a boss and the first level of Space Manbow with the GBA Goemon 1 and 2 in the cart slot.[one of the Mystical Ninja games]: Konami shmup level
I believe you are thinking of either ridge racer 1 or 2.spadgy wrote:What?! What happens when you fly into the forest...sfried wrote:I know in the background on the first stage of Blazing Star, just right before you fly into the forest...
On the topic of eatser eggs, what series of driving games had classic little games beneath the loading screen? I'm sure one version featured an early shmup... Hazy memories
