Yeah, I've always assumed that's the pronounciation. Like Ibara, DP and DDP it's heard at the title screen.Lynx Winters wrote:ESP Ra.De: I read somewhere that it's pronounced "esp-raid"

Sounds more like with an 'a' like "shack". Consult the opening of the original DP and DDP for more.Lynx Winters wrote:DDP DOJ: dough-don-patch (the a is like in "father") die-oh-joe
Indeed, but it doesn't seem to be pronounced that way. I swear on it. Unless I've got horrible ears (and I hope not), it's "Great Mahoo Dah-Sak-Sen." (It may be Dai-Sak-Sen) But I barely hear that "k"! It's even in the US version, if you open the sound test menu. Look in the back about 30 (?)places before the music starts. Well, when you hear LOUD ASS EXPLOSIONS, you're getting there.CIT wrote:It's easier just to say Great Mahou Daisakusen.
They even say it on the title screen like that, so it´s not a big mystery.CIT wrote:It's "Die-Ma-Hoo".SchruteFarmsBeets wrote:What about Dimahoo? I've been saying it as "Dee-Ma-Hoo."
Dimahoo is a rearranging of the Japanese title Great Mahou Daisakusen.

I found this video on youtube of someone saying the names of their favorite "shumps". It sounds like a digitized voice...?Ozymandiaz1260 wrote:Maybe some of you guys could make a recording of yourselves pronouncing the names, since you have no idea how to convey it in writing...

Actually they do, and next to the double-consonant, they are the most mistaken part of the language to a beginner.Arvandor wrote:They don't have long/short vowels or whatever like we do. None of this A = Ay or Ah nonsense.
Explain please.if you see an o it will always be long o

I think they were referring to long/short sounded vowels in English (to for short o, tow for long o) instead of like お and おう. I wonder how long before someone introduces IPA symbols to this thread for the full experience.GaijinPunch wrote:Actually they do, and next to the double-consonant, they are the most mistaken part of the language to a beginner.Arvandor wrote:They don't have long/short vowels or whatever like we do. I found this video to be deeply disturbing. It really, really made me feel odd.Zebra Airforce wrote:I found this video on youtube of someone saying the names of their favorite "shumps".
