Raiden DX Rapid Fire
Raiden DX Rapid Fire
This is a dumb question but can anyone tell me the standard/recomended rapid fire settings for Raiden DX? I couldn't find this info anywhere.
I don't know if it's because most modern shmups typically have a faster fire rate compared to Raiden but I certainly don't remember any of the classic Raiden games (arcade) firing as slow as the PSX version on default settings. Has it just been that long or was the fire rate always this slow?

All of the Raiden DX cabs I ever played on had a 3rd button for auto-shot. Maybe it was something that Fabtek included with the kit?Dave_K. wrote:Unlikely, unless you were playing cabs in Japan. The PCB needs an autofire circuit, which is anything but standard. I've never seen autofire hacked cabs in the US.seiatsu wrote:I guess all the raiden cabs I've played on were max as well.

I can't confirm as my DX PCB broke awhile ago, but I believe C auto is a normal part of the game software, but not as fast as a 30hz autofire board (or the PSX autofire option).nZero wrote:All of the Raiden DX cabs I ever played on had a 3rd button for auto-shot. ah yeah well in that case raiden 1 has autofire aswell.. it shoots like once every second or something if you just keep the button pressed.Ozymandiaz1260 wrote:Well, I mean you hold down the button and it continuously shoots for you, even though it's really slow. That doesn't count as autofire? I didn't know about the third button in DX though...sven666 wrote:raiden 1 doesnt have autofire.
raiden DX has C-button autofire

its completely useless anyways, teh raiden DX cbutton autofire is almost as fast as an external circuit and is absoluteley essential for playing the game any way decent.
the destruction of everything, is the beginning of something new. your whole world is on fire, and soon, you'll be too..

autofire on button C.
It works but the laser is seriously erratic.

Re: Raiden DX Rapid Fire
I understand the default pcb rapid fire is 15hz would it be worthwhile to put button 1 on 30hz or something for point blanking or is that too sweaty?

Re: Raiden DX Rapid Fire
Ancient thread, but Mikado and Taito Hey both have this as their Raiden DX button configurations:
Shot Bomb 30Hz
15hz
Shot Bomb 30Hz
15hz
Re: Raiden DX Rapid Fire
I have the old Raiden Insanity DVD and all the superplays on there seem to use 15 and 30hz for Raiden 1, 2 and DX.
Re: Raiden DX Rapid Fire
You want 30hz for extreme pointblank boss speedkill tech, and 15hz for all-purpose play.

Re: Raiden DX Rapid Fire
Thanks! I'm using the Reco from RGB so I'll try vsync rapid fire "option 1" for buttons 1 & 2 (shot and bomb) and leave button 3 as-is @ 15Hz (pcb). Not sure if there would be significant difference between the vsync or async version of rapid fire, I'm guessing the range would somewhere around ~27hz vsync vs 30hz async.
Re: Raiden DX Rapid Fire
Never used the RECO but generally autofire using the sync signal should be preferred. That will produce a more consistent ON/OFF cycle that is locked to the actual refresh rate. For some games and techniques this can be really important. In Raiden I'd imagine the actual difference between the two will be minor as far as damage output. Still might as well use sync since you have such an optimized device.
