The question now is, are you a Mexican or a Mexicaint!?
I know, but none of it makes any sense so why should I...???

I should have got that one, though I only care about NFL Live these days. If I could get the NFL Network here, I probably wouldn't watch ESPN at all.DawnPatrol wrote:It's an advertising campaign on ESPN. It's supposed to be a joke. I like this kid.Skykid wrote:This really isn't that tough. The Saturn is the collectors choice by a mile, with a ton of exceptional games (many shooters) not available anywhere else. The console is made all the more desirable due to lack of decent emulation...anywhere.
The Playstation has its moments - just not enough, and although there are some sound conversions, its 2D doesn't always make the grade.
Get stuck into:
Guardian Heroes
Battle Garegga
Kingdom Grandprix
Radiant Silvergun
Panzer Dragoon + PD Zwei + PD Saga
Princess Crown
Dondonpachi
SF Alpha 2 (finest console conversion)
Shinrei Jusatsushi Taromaru
Burning Rangers
Nights
Waku Waku 7
Thunder Force V
Batsugun
Layer Section
Keio 2
Sengoku Blade
Cotton 2
Amongst others.
Tell Solid Snake to stick that in his pipe.
Good call.Saturn Hyper Duel.
Saturn mode in Hyper Duel is 10x better than the arcade version. I'm being dead serious. Saturn mode makes the arcade mode look like a joke.
this is untrue, only hardcore Hyper Duel fans would be interested in the differences offered by the Saturn version. This myth that it is 'x10' better serves only to fuel the high prices/collector craziness that currently surrounds it.Fighter 17 wrote:Saturn mode in Hyper Duel is 10x better than the arcade version. I love my Saturn, and have 60+ games (all Japanese imports) for it, but this idea that there aren't as many good shooters for Playstation, or that it somehow can't handle 2D as well is rubbish.
Truth indeed.charlie chong wrote:truth !!CIT wrote:There's entirely too much Saturn fanboyism in this thread.

I agree too. I was probably one of those fanboys when I first discovered shmups properly, and when you are introduced to the scene it's easy to beleive that the Saturn is the best shmup machine by such a long way.Sonic R wrote:Truth indeed.charlie chong wrote:truth !!CIT wrote:There's entirely too much Saturn fanboyism in this thread.

I love both my Sega Saturn and my Sony PlayStation.
I'd refer to it instead as deserved praise for the last real 2D system. The SS can indisputably handle 2D better due to the much higher VRAM and 2 dedicated frame buffers that allow more frames to be outputted in a given amount of time. That equates to more potential sprites displayed at any moment. The PS in all likelihood would not be able to handle Radiant Silvergun as is (as Crave probably found out); on the other hand, there's not a single full 2D game out there for the PS that doesn't seem to be overshadowed by a better looking 2D SS title.CIT wrote:There's entirely too much Saturn fanboyism in this thread.

That's true on paper, and can be seen in the fact that virtually every single 2D Fighting Game released on both systems is better on Saturn.Ganelon wrote:I'd refer to it instead as deserved praise for the last real 2D system. What's better looking than Akumajo Dracula X?on the other hand, there's not a single full 2D game out there for the PS that doesn't seem to be overshadowed by a better looking 2D SS title.
Hmm, but don't you also feel most of the games that got later ports (for Taito Legends, Psikyo Collections, etc) are still best enjoyed on Saturn, because of tate-options, lowres display, extras, etc?I have nothing against the PS though (I bought the PS over the SS when it came out anyway). I do feel that the SS shooter library was stronger at the time but right now, enough of its exclusives are available elsewhere that I can't favor it as the more worthy 32-bit console to get for shooters anymore.
