I do that shit all the time, but the game of choice: DoDonPachi on the PSX.Shatterhand wrote:Wanna make friends be impressed with shmups?
Invite them to your house, and when they arrive, be sure that your TV is ALREADY on Tate position, running some good-looking shmup.
Shmups will have their respect forever.
Most ridiculous anti-shmup hogwash?

Well here's mine regarding an Espgaluda 2 Superplay DVD.
"Remember i still have Lisa's dvds here.. i also have some dvds that Charlie dropped off.. i think they are sad people playing sad Cave games and seeing who is sadder at each game.. its quite sad."
I can see how you could look down your nose at a superplay dvd though

I like shorter shmups better.
I also find RS to be too long. However, it takes me about the same amount of time to beat GV, but I don't find it to be so long. I think it's the large amount of boss battles that kinda slow the game down and makes it seem like such a marathon. However, I think the the Arcade version is just about the right length. Good thing ESP and Treasure put both versions on the disc.
The full version is quite the spectacle though, even if it is a bit tiring.

Yeah, that "mindless" comment is where I usually just silently acknowledge, said person has little or no idea what they're talking about.Zebra Airforce wrote: For me, the worst possible insult is when people call shooters "mindless". Is there ANY other genre which requires this extreme amount of concentration? It gets to the point where someone entering/leaving the room I'm in can totally throw me off.

Around here it's Raiden. Everybody likes Raiden.escadrille wrote:Truth be told, once I manage to explain to people what kind of games I'm talking about they tend to be really positive about it. "You mean like 1943? They still make games like that? That's pretty awesome!"
They always use 1943 as a reference point too. Guess it's extra famous for some reason?
Raiden and Galaga.

It kind of is... well, I'd classify it as a "puzzle-em-up" in the same way that a lot of Cave's games are "score-em-ups". Nothing wrong with that, and I happen to love Ikaruga because of the puzzle elements in trying to chain the entire game. How is this an anti-shmup sentiment? I'd rather see someone call Ikaruga a puzzle game than a mindless shooter, in fact, because it would mean that person understands the complexity of the chaining, as opposed to just thinking the game involves mindlessly shooting everything (as some people do think).jpj wrote:ikaruga is a puzzle game

The best part is, once you actually get Halo and play it on Xbox live you still get to hear guys like this call you a "faggot." Right over your own little pop-star-style microphone/headset combo!Mega Mudkip wrote:I SUPPORT THIS MANChrisn wrote:HEY FAGGOT HOW ABOUT GETTING A REAL GAME !!LOL!!

Yeah, I'm sick and tired of the dodge-em-up.
More shooting, less obscuring the landscape with dots plz.
