Forgotten Worlds Question (PC Engine)

Post by CIT »

Just got the PC Engine version of Forgotten Worlds and am really pleased with this great port.

I'm using the Avenue 6-button pad to play, but for some reason I can't use a third button (even when I switch controls to "Avenue Pad" in the options menu), which obviously makes this game useless to play.

Am I correct in the suspicion that 3-button support only works with the Avenue 3-button pad? :?

That's right, a very useless 3-button pad. Why they didn't map rotation to I/II is beyond me.

I had the same issue.

It will definitely only work with the Avenue Pad 3.

I got one from this seller on ebay...

Doh. That IS really lame.

I specifically didn't get the boxed set with the pad, because I thought I won't need it since I already have the 6-button pad.

For CIT,

I bought an NEC Avenue Pad 6 controller back in 2000 and use it with the USA Turbo Duo TTI version of Forgotten Worlds -- it works like a charm to be able to use Button "III" to rotate your satellite option around your character... ^_~

What type of PCE Duo or Turbo Duo console setup are you currently using?

For CIT,

Very nice PCE Duo setup you've got there... ^_~

For the record, Turbo Technologies Incorporated (TTI), did not include such an NEC Avenue 3 Pad controller with the USA version Turbo Duo version of Forgotten Worlds. Nor did TTI even release an USA version controller of the NEC Avenue 6 joypad either -- one had to get them imported one way or another..... ^_~

There is a secret alternative control method that was placed in the USA ver. of Duo Forgotten Worlds port that mimics the "3rd button" controller layout scheme that does allow for satellite rotation capabilities (on a stock Turbo Duo 2-button joypad scheme) if one doesn't have access to either an Avenue 3 or Avenue 6 type of pad in the first place..... ^_~

Nice.

I really love the PC Engine, but I still hate the fact that NEC constantly inconvenienced gamers, just to get them to spend more cash on extra controllers, multiplayer adapters, etc. Can't give credit to that, no no.

Ah, but is it worth the additional expense get the proper hardware and controllers to play such a cool 5-player session of Bomberman '94, right? Priceless indeed -- I'll admit that I've had my ass handed to me on such 5-player sessions of BM-'94. Lol... ^_~

It's fun selecting the mini Bomberman character and playing on the igloo stage. By trying to hide underneath the igloos from everybody else when you're that small -- sometimes it works and other times, it doesn't..... ^_~

Bomberman '94 was released in the USA on the Sega Genesis platform under the title of "Mega Bomberman" but with only 4-players maximum capability -- I still prefer having five folks to join in on the fun that the original PCE version of BM-'94 has to offer + the crazy kangaroo characters that you can ride on is cool & hip..... ^_~
