the arcade can only be so big, people watch others play all the time, shmups is no exceptions. she's got nothing to be creeped out from, unless she's the insecure type, then feeling creeped out would be the least of her problem.

Yes, but most of those other people aren't stark naked save for an executioner's hood.

Do Girls Play Shooters?
[sarcasm] There are no girls on da innernets or in da arcades! So your answer is "no!"[/sarcasm]

If we're talking about girls in Japan playing shooters, then the answer's "most likely."

the way you say it, they might as well post a sign outside of arcade: no girls allowed. and no need to be sarcastic. smarten up.

Reminds me of the Cave video for Death Smiles at the last expo; where at the end of it;they show the two cosplay girls playing the game; and when they both died and the game finished they stared at each other like they had no clues about what just happen.

I know a couple girls who play shooters. Not more than they play any other game though.

My little sister has particularly good taste in games. It always surprises and pleases me to find out which games she likes more than others =)

Girls love to cosplay usually not playing shmups; those love to play shmups don't have the time (nor money) doing cosplay.

And I myself...

...couldn't play a RPG for more than 20hrs
...couldn't play a Action RPG for more than 30hrs
...couldn't play a Strategy for more than 40hrs

Girls love to cosplay
I don't think they "love" it as much as they "are paid to do" it?

Well, my younger sister (age 22) mostly plays RPGs and action adventures (like Zelda and Okami). My YOUNGEST sister on the other hand (soon to be 16) likes Astro Boy, Mushihimesama, Ikaruga, Pandemonium!, Viewtiful Joe, Ninja Five-O, and other such awesome games =) I think 2D platformers are her favorite, but she likes shooters too.

Then another girl I know just likes games in general. She isn't a huge fan of the shooters, and just watching Cave games is intimidating for her, but she really enjoys the TG-16 shooters like Super Star Soldier and whatnot.

I'm not afraid of guns, dogs or restraining orders.
The only thing that frightens me are Circus people. Carnies. You know, small hands.

I don't care what you're afraid of or not. You can't touch my sister if you're dead =) Fear is a non-factor.

Better watch out Arvandor. She might come at you only wearing an open shirt and shoot you a couple times while there's a mountain of cocaine on your desk. Because that's what happens to over protective brothers  .

Haha....pictures with hot women and cars...or even the paralell- ANY women and videogames (haha..used LOOSELY)- I have trouble paying attention to the women. The ketsui girl gets a nod, though.

All that to say- that setup is hot. I noticed that before I realized that there was a girl in the picture : P

I was kidding. No need to overanalyze. I don't particularly care about the gender of the person playing shmups, to be honest.

I'm doing the best I can, witch is to say not allot....
Most of the girls I talk to have brothers that shoot at me

All kidding aside, I've never really thought about it until now.
Perhaps I should try and force it on my sisters or go see if my Final Fantasy/World of Warcraft girl-buddy-freak is interested in getting a few PS2 titles thrown her way.
I've already made an autistic buddy of mine hooked, so it could work...
