an example, a girl was playing time crisis 4 (not a shump but i have reason to mention this) in the game an far away enemy has fired a critical shot, an average player would have seen this coming from a mile long and reacted, but she just stared at it and took it when all she had to do was to step off the peddle, and i came to the conclusion: no reaction. true to the words, she lost very fast.
next, she sat at a Raiden DX machine and started. first thing she did is press the shot button (even through there is nothing on the screen yet, a behaviour i witness many people doing) or so she though. Boom, it was a bomb button (the machine use to be a 4 button beat-em-up, but from experience i know that its usually the far left most button for shot) ok, so she starts off one bomb short, for a while it wasn't a problem as she manage to get every power-up without getting hit, and even manage to defeat the first boss. but when she reached the second boss, she just crumbled when the central gun started doing the spread, even forgetting she has bombs.
from my point of view, shump require good spatial perception(wahhh...sci-fi otaku side surfacing) you must keep track of every shot fired, from you or the enemy, the path they go. even if there is hundreds of bullets.
so there you have it. I understand that playing shump or any other game for that matter, it just takes pratice and dedication, then anyone can be good, regardless of gender. of course, this is just what i observed so far. i myself grew up among shooters, unlike most girls i strived to win, and win big.
if anyone has any observation of their own, or to add anything i missed, please let me hear it. much appreciated
