Hey, at least we're getting it! That's GREAT news, IMO, and only 2 bucks more then a US N64 game on the VC. :D

yeah that game looks pretty good, and made by treasure. I really dislike the fact it costs 1200 points though :( .

I always wanted to try out Sin & Punishment. I would've gotten a N64 if this game had hit NA. I've been having a blast with it so far and the game gets intense quickly!

Sin & Punishment is more than worth the $12. This game rules.

I forgot to add...Doesn't the VC emulate N64 games at higher resolutions?

Can't wait to see this game in 480p.

Sin and Punishment is very very playable. Love it.
The controlls are hellish though.

No, this game is not Space Invaders.

Sin and Punishment: never really played it before but seems like a great game. Too bad they couldn't have tweaked it to use the wiimote, but great fun nonetheless. Controls seem a bit nasty though (as said earlier...)

In what way are they nasty and hellish?
:?:
I was looking forward to playing with the classic controller over the N64 controller…

Well, the left shoulder pad fires, which is fine I suppose but it becomes frusterating to press it while trying to move the aiming reticle with your left thumb. You cannot use the d pad. The right shoulder button is used to jump. The a and b buttons move the character left and right (very odd). It's just annoying and frusterating sometimes when you start a game and have to reteach yourself the controlls. I constantly have to think which buttons to push and this is never a good thing. :( You can use the right stick for aiming, however you need the right hand to do the moving and jumping.

Also, quick aiming with the left stick while holding down the shoulder button is not comfortable at all.

Hmmm…
On the N64 the controlls work like so:

D+pad can move character as well as the "c" buttons
analog stick moves the crosshair
Z button shoots
L and R shoulder buttons jump
(I do not know if any functions are map to the A and B buttons)

I want to play on the classic controller using:
Left analog to move character
Right analog to move cross hair
one shoulder button for jump
one shoulder button for shoot

When I play on the N64 I hold the controller funny
with my right thumb on the analog and my left thumb on the d+pad
I use my right finger to shoot and my left finger on the L button for jump
I hold the controller the same for Bangai-o as well.

Thank you Pixel_Outlaw for explaining the controls :D

Perhaps that's the problem. Both the left and right analog sticks do the same thing.

By the way, I don't mean to overplay this. I've never really played the game before, so if someone said 'learn 2 play', they might well be in the right. I just feel the set ups are awkward and seemingly convoluted for the classic controller. I will reiterate, I would have happily paid for a full price game to play this adapted to the wiimote+nunchuck which would have actually been ideal.

I never say things like "learn 2 play"[sic] -- I only ask about control set up  I am most thankful that many are able to realize this fine game.

It appears that both analog sticks are do the same thing? :?
Thats not cool. I may just have to pass on this

Yep. Dunno why they didn't go with the obvious C-buttons to right stick mapping.

Haven't tried it out yet but looking at the control options it seems Type 3 would be the most painless for the Classic Controller (L and R to strafe, left stick to aim, B to shoot, A to jump, X to change cursor).

I use Type 1 on Classic Controller.

Right stick to aim
L button to fire
D-pad to strafe
R button to jump

I'm glad I read this thread before I tried to play S&P. I think I'll be less confused now. Downloaded it last night, hope to play it today!

A little OT but with the low US dollar, I couldn't help but get yesasia to send a Japanese Wii my way. Free express shipping, no duties, and parity with Canadian dollar sounded too good to me.

Anyway, I recall something about even the prepaid Wii Points cards to be region-locked, so this means I will need to buy some Japanese Wii Points cards also?

From what I know, you can buy Japan Wii points from the Virtual Console screen itself. You'd need a Visa/Mastercard credit card.

Thanks. I don't have a Visa or MC so I bought 6000 points from yesasia. 2xUSD$32.99 is still cheaper than 3xCAD$24.99 + 13.5% tax for buying NA cards at retail here.

WOW, I didn't know that, that rocks! :D What worries me, though, is that on Nintendo's official VC site, there are some game titles that are grey and that you can't click on-how fast do they remove games from this site? I want a Wii, but it will be a little while before I can afford to get one.

I have heard that you can buy flash memory expansion for the Wii, but I don't know how expensive that is.

It's a plain vanilla SD memory card. Price is around $25-30 for a 2GB card and peanuts for 1GB and under if you know where to look. Don't know how common the little tiny computer stores are in your area, but they are all over town in my parts.
Something like this will work.

2GB is the maximum capacity under the official SD protocol. As far as I know, Wii does not support the newer SDHC standard which allows for higher capacities, and using non-SDHC 4GB cards is a bit iffy.
Also, the VC games need to be stored in the Wii's internal flash memory, so the expansion can only be used for storage if you run out of internal space; you will need to copy your VC stuff back onto the internal memory if you want to play something you have deleted.

I have no idea what's up with Nintendo's site, but the greyed out games are still available in the Wii Shop. So far the only example of a VC game being removed was in Europe, where SMB: The Lost Levels was only available for a limited time.

Has it already been mentioned Alien Soldier is coming to Japan's VC on October 9?

edit: also Zanac for Famicom on the same day.

?!?! I used to buy NA Wii points cards for less than USD 20.00 w/ no sale tax at eBay. Just look for those sellers with stright records and willing to email you the code.

You could buy Wii point directly from Nintendo via the Wii Shop chanel. I got a USD Creadit Card issued by an US bank, but I still couldn't buy Wii points that's way bucause Nintendo required users to provide an address that match the billing address of the card. (I think that is for calculate sale tax.) And since my island does not belongs to the territory of United Status. I couldn't buy Wii points that's way.

For the Japanese Wii, you might be able to buy Wii point this way, since Japanese got to pay the same sale tax no matter which province you live in. In this case, Nintendo might not required you to enter your card's billing address so you might be able to buy Japanese Wii points this way. But you would have to pay Japanese Sale tax.

*************************

Talking about tax, I found myself paid more tax (in total) to fogrin Governaments this year.

Canada Governament > US Governament > My Island's Government > British Governament

And I am a British National.... :? I could understand why I pay more tax to my island's government than then British Government, since I live on the island and earn my living here.

But why do I need to pay more tax to the Canada/USA Government? I am not a Canada/USA citizen and I haven't even been to Canada/USA this year.... :x
