Where's the love for Ketsui? I just got the PCB and its frickin awsome!Dylan1CC wrote: Nah. I seriously am satisfied with Progear, Saturn DDP, Mushihime and if it appears on PS2, Ibara as far as my Cave play goes. The next Cave game I get beyond these titles would be an EspRaDe PCB.
Really? Have you played ESPGaluda? I like that much more than Saturn DDP (and espRaDe). And DDPDOJ is a really essential purpose for any shmup fan w/ a PS2 (also way better than Saturn DDP!), as some others have already stated.Dylan1CC wrote:[Nah. The Dragon Blaze port is a text-book example on how to do ports, it's pretty much perfect. It's the GWG port that has issues that may or may not hamper one's enjoyment of the game.Naiera wrote:There's nothing better than an announcement of a Cave port. The port of Dragon Blaze is arcade perfect - what are you on about?Naiera wrote:OMFG!
BEST. NEWS. THIS. YEAR.
There's nothing better than an announcement of a Cave port. Let's hope Taito, or whoever will be doing the actual conversion, will do better than with Dragon Blaze and GWG.
Thanks for your insights. I would bet though, if Cave does the port as you postulate, they will keep it in true low res because their previous ports were (even though Arika did them).Recap wrote: So I'm afraid Mushi's port will suffer from the same problem. Not for being developed by Taito (which probably won't be, since Taito just look for development companies to make the games these days, and it's indeed pretty likely that Cave themselves are doing the port job), but for not being developed by Arika, who were the only ones who have used true low res in the PS2 ports (besides Playmore and its KOF2000, that is).
Hope some things are clearer now.
Well probably also a few other devcos, e.g. the PS2 Shienryu 1 port in the Double Shienryu pack also offers a choice of true low res or filtered high res display.Recap wrote:Arika, who were the only ones who have used true low res in the PS2 ports (besides Playmore and its KOF2000, that is).
NCS will get it to you faster, assuming you live in the U.S. of A. Play-asia's shipping can be much cheaper, but it usually takes two weeks to get to me.Dylan1CC wrote:So who has faster shipping? Play Asia or NCS?
And how do you pre-order Mushihime from Play Asia's site?
Thanks, Mad. I ended up adding myself to the NCS pre-order list. I have heard a lot fo good things about Play Asia but as you answered, am a bit worried about the shipping time.MadSteelDarkness wrote:NCS will get it to you faster, assuming you live in the U.S. of A. To preorder from play-asia, start an account with them, hit the "add to shopping cart" button underneath the product description, then proceed to checkout. You'll be good to go.

Eugenics: you know it's right!
I don't see this as a "problem" at all, since Dragon Blaze looks great. If they made Mushi less blurry that's okay with me, as long as it plays right. Anyway, it's a port, not the original, so you can't expect it to look exactly like the original game. They do what they gotta do to make it play on the console, which is inferior to the arcade machine.Recap wrote:
- Dragon Blaze is not "arcade perfect". It emulates (as MAME does) the original graphic code, but there's an important problem with on-screen presentation, which uses scaled-up and filtered graphics to display the game in hi res. You can't call it "arcade perfect" at all.
So I'm afraid Mushi's port will suffer from the same problem.
