We debatably have a few.
Konami Week can be improved vastly by excluding its catalog pre-1993 as well as Gradius IV

-Thunder Dragon 2
Yes, NMK games!! Why not fill the entire hidden gem week with NMK stuff!!

- Rapid Hero
- Thunder Dragon 2
- Saint Dragon
- P-47
- P-47 Aces
- Gunnail
- Wangan Sensou
- Black Heart

NMK damnit!! Next year there better be an NMK week! No, actually there better be 2 NMK weeks!! I like typing NMK!

First, how many games are being allowed on the list per week? Wasn't it five last time?
It will be 5.
Anytime there appears to be more, it will be because of added course selection like old Raizing week.

Just summarizing the shout-out madness for Edge. Avoid '06 Retro Week fallout at all cost.

Code: Select all

mega list
p.s: I will point out any "issues" with games if I find any.

edit: This post will be updated again when more people post on this thread...
Do we really need two voting threads? There are two people listed as a game selection "committee." That is more than enough to put together a more than adequate list.
No, we don't need two voting threads. On post 1, I'd probably make some text-format indication of landslide popularity of certain games (based on his list). But as Danny's tally indicates, there really isn't any. It's up to them to voice what they wanna play. It's up to us to shape, test, and verify from their voices what they should play.

I was gonna put the tally on page 1, but the Hidden Gem list clutters enough as it is. Danny, by all means you can continue updating and posting the tally lists because it is still kinda interesting and you say people are asking for it. It also serves as a double-check for any possible name-drops by users I may have missed. Thank you very much for putting that together. I know that's a time-consuming thing. It came in handy for me.

Also, I know Underdogs needs a 5th guy. You should go sign up and join that thing.

@shoe
Thanks on the Eliminate Down tip.
Have you been able to trigger warps with any consistency from your Omega Fighter Special vids? Could you pull it off multiple times in one game?

Hell yes we should. Since when is "kill everything before it reaches the bottom of the screen" not a scoring system?
I agree

Replace Twinbee with Gradius 3.

When it can be adequately exploited by suicides.

No 16-bit console shooter is adequate for a scoring competition. Not one. This isn't Nick Arcade.

Some 8/16-bits shoot'em ups don't kill nobody. My suggestion of play Astro Warrior, Knightmare, Zombie Nation and others, continues.

I disagree. Doing so would rule out Gradius II, Xexex, Detana Twinbee, and Trigon/Lightning Fighters. I'm quite fond of Konami's earlier games like Gradius, Salamander, and Twinbee too. Also, if console games are included, I wouldn't mind doing Pop 'n Twinbee, Gradius Gaiden, or Gradius II MSX.

Yes this is pretty much true
They are make great for a quick competition but not well for an extended tournement.

I think that is why I like them so. Super quick simple scoring gameplay.
also they are the one game I can score well in

So what time on Saturday is the game be announced? (GMT)
