i've got a jp white saturn, and recently i tried to boot up dezaemon to continue on my project, but my cart wasn't being read.
is their anyway to test the slot, short of buying another ram cart?

I have no sig whatsoever.
Never used any 3rd party carts in it I'd imagine? To make sure you've gotten the cart as close to the connectors as possible, don't push the cart all the way in but rather slightly above where you feel the most friction (this trick is also applicable to SS that have had their connectors widened over time by all 3rd party carts).
Anyway, there are other ways to test the cartridge slot. You can use either a 1MB, 4MB, or ROM cart and see if the respective games that require them play or not (also, a SegaNet cart will show whether the slot is detecting anything).
