Startet playing Mushihime-sama a while ago. I'm not particularly good at playing it (in only understood counter banking recently) but I love the game. Anyhow, here's my current score:

Maniac (Arcade) w/ rapid fire on PS2

51,440,713 - tassian - Stage 3 - [A+12, C+2]

Thanks for the welcome, LUN. :) Yes, I'll definitely keep playing. I'm quite surprised how fun this game in the long term is. As soon as I've found a good survival strategy for the stage 2 boss I guess that getting high counters in stage 3 will be a real challenge. Apart from that, the 1CC is my priority right now. I guess that I'm still pretty far away from it as far as I can tell from playing stages 4 and 5 when I did the initial credit feeding to see all stages.

Making some progress -- not with the 1CC but at least score wise:

Maniac (Arcade) w/ rapid fire on PS2

82,904,734 - tassian - Stage 3 - [A+12, C+4]

It's very hard to chain stage 3. Keeping the counters up is a great deal of work. I'm pretty sure that I haven't found the right path yet but I'm trying to get there without watching any superplays. Exploring this game is pretty exciting, I must admit. Unfortunately, the stage 3 boss is where the 1CC try ends. Stage 1 and 2 didn't go as planned either in the above attempt. So there's plenty of room for improvement. :)

Finally decided to not let the shitty ass port prevent me from enjoying this.

70253986 - The vagrant - Stage 5

Next time i'll try without bombing the shit out of stage 4 :D. Is it me or is that stage pretty evil?

Can't quite get the hang if the scoring system yet, oh well.

Took a break from this for a month, came back and got my first 'ALL'

Hurrah!

Was actually quite a pathetic finish considering I got to the final boss with 3 lives in stock. Bomb, Bomb, Bomb, Scream, Bomb, Bomb Bomb, etc :x

Image

On a separate run got the following score:

original mode
10,761,741 - RGC - Stage 5 - PSX

Chalk it up, I'm going back for more!

No, no, it's not just you.

Stage 4 is indeed completely evil.

So VERY many times, I'll go through that stage, and forget about one of those groups of small things that stick to those large rocks, and they'll get onto the side of the screen for too long, and then suddenly I have to navigate this warped wall of bullets, which is annoying to do, just because I forgot they were gonna be there.

And it took me SO dang long to figure out how to get past the stupid snakes without trouble. Oh sure, NOW they're easy......

As for my own scoring,

Im really doubting this is any good but,

Been playing Arrange Mode to death. Without the "turbo" settings being on (and I dont bother tapping the stupid buttons again and again either, too annoying).

Right now, I'll end in Stage 5, always on the "true" final boss, and my score will be..... uhhh........... Wherever the point is at which you get your second extra life, that score needed, I'll usually be a bit after that, having gotten that in the early part of stage 5.

Yeah, not the best way to describe it, but lately I've been just working on trying to figure out how to get past that obnoxious boss fight of DOOM, and also working on the irritation of Stage 4's annoying-as-heck boss....

In arrange mode, unlike the proper arcade game modes, rapid fire does not help your score. So don't bother using it. Increasing the counter is based on holding the main shot down while being as close to the enemy as possible. Once you get this down, along with maintaining the chain throughout the level, your score will skyrocket. I didn't play arrange very much (maybe 1-2 weeks total), but I got 800mil without too much trouble.

Here's another tip: use Wide shot until about halfway through Stage 3, then switch and stay with S-shot for the rest of the game.

Ah, so that's how that works......

Of course, actually getting close to everything without going splat is another thing entirely, lol.

I just finished another run at this, my last score was 133,645,841.

And I still just cant take down that final enemy. That stupid shield isnt helping matters, haha.

But the big brown/green bug before that is going splat now, at least.

Now why cant stage 4's boss go down that easy?

Keep going taresk :)

EDIT: Barely worth the mention, but it'll make the table more uniform. Lifed it to the final stage again, but I really need to practice that boss:

Original

10,786,115 - RGC- ALL (Lx0) - PS2

I haven't played Original mode in over 6 months. I sit down today and:

51,835,530 - TWE - ALL (Lx4) - S-Power - PCB

Image

Yay! I beat Lun!! :P

I almost got a no-miss, just died once on the last boss. I guess playing Mushi Futari's Original mode so much has made the first game's Original mode really easy in comparison.

I'm pretty happy with this score, but I think I could whip out a no miss with some more practice. We'll see.

BTW I think Cave's online ranking for this game is down. I can't find the link for it anywhere, and it's no longer on Cave's Mushi page.
