??????
Is this a joke? If it's not, then it better be some sort of "lite" version or something...they need to change the title so that people know it's different from the original version. I agree that it seems strange how they aborted the PS2 version due to whatever "stage" issues, but then they probably ran into a whole new set of problems in trying to put it on the DS. My question is this...why the fuck haven't they made Ketsui or any other Cave shooters for XBox Live Arcade? There could be a gold mine waiting for them in XBLA, but apparently the DS gold mine seems more promising...

Did you read:f it's not, then it better be some sort of "lite" version or something...they need to change the title so that people know it's different from the original version
1: The title screen of the video?
2: Any of the 2 or 3 times where I mentioned the official title?
It is "Ketsui Jigoku no Kizunatachi: Death Label". At least at this point.
You think right, young grasshopper. That, and the fact that the only company willing to do a home port of a Cave titlle (and possibly take a hit) is Arika, and they're not going to do a home console on the Xbox. Can't handle the low res display -- case closed.xbox isn't big in japan, ketsui isn't big outside japan. no goldmine there methinks...

See, it wasn't a joke and this might be a joke but according to his blog (posted on April 1st) he mentioned that he was going to show Mushihimesama DS as well...
oh here is another video, he actually was at the party for Ketsui fan and downloaded the demo and could try it. http://blog.livedoor.jp/stghajimemasita ... 38677.html

this 2nd video gives the whole story a lot more credibility so i'm hoping it will prove to be real.ARCADIA wrote:See, it wasn't a joke and this might be a joke but according to his blog (posted on April 1st) he mentioned that he was going to show Mushihimesama DS...

the mushihimesama ds, well i must say that seems a strong candidate for an april fools' joke.

If it's Death Label as GP states then my guess it'll simply be a more challenging boss-rush type of game. Rather than the full arcade game.Fighter17 wrote:Well at least all that code in the PS2 port of Ketsui didn't went to waste.
If they did made a great DS port of Ketsuit for the DS, this will make me BUY a DS!
But........ will they run the same problem with stage 5 in the DS development? Who knows....
BTW, I only stated Ketsui Lite as a joke, I didn't watch the clips entirety to see the Death Label screen for myself.

You might have a point right there, but if it was a boss rush game then the game wouldn't sell well.Limbrooke wrote:If it's Death Label as GP states then my guess it'll simply be a more challenging boss-rush type of game. The DS video from Mihara's blog and the GBA link from Icarus don't show any title screen from the start...GaijinPunch wrote:Well...it was in the first few seconds of the video. He shows the title screen before playing.I didn't watch the clips entirety to see the Death Label screen for myself.
Last time I make a remark like that.
OT, since it is pending to become a Death Label type game I doubt it would interest me more to get a DS. I'm not much of a fan for boss rushes, pardon the fact it's good for practice.

Is the name juggled around like that on purpose?GaijinPunch wrote:It is "Ketsui Jigoku no Kizunatachi: Death Label". At least at this point.
Even if Ketsui Death Label was just a simple boss attack game and not a reworking of the complete game, I'd still buy it. I'd prefer a decent reworking, but beggars can't be choosers in this case.

Probably something to differentiate it from the Aracade release, yet still say "Cave".Is the name juggled around like that on purpose?

The problem with the PS2 port was a memory issue. There were simply too many sprites and tiles to keep in memory at one time.. the PS2 was trying its best to stream the data off the DVD but was running into so much trouble that it caused frame dropping.
That isn't going to be an issue on the DS since it uses carts and therefore has direct access to the program ROM... just like the PCB. The problems with a version on the DS are apparent in the video. The stretched resolution (conversion from tate to yoko) completely alters how the bullet patterns work. Not only are all of Doom's patterns slower (especially the final "death rain" pattern), they are also spread out more along the horizontal axis making for some huge gaps. I did notice fewer bullets in a couple of the patterns as well. Also, the DS's sprite-draw limit would most likely be pushed quite a bit during the second loop (assuming a full conversion and not simply a boss-rush).

It would be pretty much unplayable that way, I guess.Piratero wrote:Would it be a problem if they tated a DS or does it look really silly?
Just tested some SNES shmups on my DS R4 (EDIT: I am talking about the Lite here) flash cart, and while the d-pad is fine for platformers and the like, pushing diagonals is nigh impossible, which is a pain even in slower games like R-Type 3. If they would take over all those brainbusting patterns, a lot of DSes will be thrown against walls. (Not to carry over the exhausting stick vs. pad topic, I love my d-pads, but the one on the DS is a bit problematic.)
But still, Ketsui on the DS = handheld heaven.

Brain Age didn't use the dpad and buttons. It's possible, but not ergonomic. Anyway, always when I play DS lite tated (Brain Age and Hotel Dusk), people come and ask "what device is that?", but when I play it in yoko nobody asks anythingSFKhoa wrote:Was it a problem when people did it for Brain age? I have the DS phat. I tested it with Gradius Galaxies and King of Fighters EX 2. It doesn't have a problem with diagonals. I'm guessing you are talking about DS Lite? The DS lite has a different D-pad.FrederikJurk wrote:It would be pretty much unplayable that way, I guess.Piratero wrote:Would it be a problem if they tated a DS or does it look really silly?

I tried a couple Tate GBA games on the DS. It it slightly awkward, but still very playable. It worked out better than I thought it world. I can't wait to play the Konami Collection.Shocky wrote:Brain Age didn't use the dpad and buttons. It's possible, but not ergonomic. But how do you use the face buttons AND the d-pad when having the unit sideways?!? Or do you use the shoulder buttons instead? I suppose you´re not talking about just the play area being tilted with rotated controls (like that option in Ikaruga, Strikers 1945 II and such).
Anyway, if they make Ketsui for the DS, they will take the device into cosideration.

I mean, they ported DDP, Espgaluda and the like to MOBILE PHONES. Not exactly the true arcade experience, but everyone has a mobile and can d/l it for a few bucks/yen. So porting a much-wanted arcade game to a very widespread portable 2D console makes sense. I am just happy that the DS doesn´t have region restrictions.CMoon wrote: Everyone in Japan apparently has a DS, and many still have GBAs and GCs, so despite the non-believers, it at least makes sense on a motivation level.
