I'm actually more impressed with the GBA Ketsui demo, especially if it's real. It's actually running at a better frame rate than on the DS, has faster patterns than the DS one, and has tate.

First, they were nice enough to let out the bag that their port of Ketsui was canceled without anyone knowing a port was even being considered. Now, its "....well at least there is the DS and GBA". These japanese game developers must have a secret stash of that good shit........

Oh, april, right.

This is most likely just a replay video stuck on an R4DS, M3 Simply, M3 Perfect or Supercard Lite and run through it's movie settings.

But, how the hell the guy got a TATE game on a DS screen without the game looking screched out?

What about that extra shit at the end of the video where it shows the title screen?

I see Akira and some extra shit after Ketsui.

i don't know the first thing about japan, but i know irem has done some great april fools jokes on their website. bydo burger!

as for ketsui ds...uh...i guess i'd play it, but it's a pretty poor substitute for a ps2 version. even an imperfect ps2 version.

well, here in the west there are a lot of people who put a lot of time and effort (and even lot's of money) in their april fool's joke. so if this is a joke on Arika's behalf they might have taken the time to cutout a part of a super-play video and edit some other graphics around it...like i wouldn't be surprised if they still had access to some of the graphics from when they worked on the port. so with (a lot of) effort and intimate knowledge of the game i'm sure they can conjure up a fake video that looks strikingly realistic.

ofcourse i would love to see a home version of ketsui but i doubt the ds is going to give it to us. :(

I don't see why there's so many hard feelings toward a DS or GBA release. The PS2 version didn't get released because even if it did it would have been a horrible port (probably even worse than Mushi which is an awful port imo). So get over the fact that the PS2 version wasn't released and just get the damn PCB. It's not that rare and it's worth every cent.

That said, I love my PCB but I welcome any portable remix to the game. I don't care if it doesn't do justice to the arcade version at all, it's a portable Cave game with great patterns and decent music (and decent graphics) so that's more than enough for me. I'm excited for the possible release(s)

i cant believe any1 is taking this "clip" serious. i cant see why the japanese cant have a sense of humor "online". This clip is as bogus as Mongolian Kim Chee.

A very, very cruel joke. Those guys know my wet dreams (and yeah, I know that the d-pad sucks rear end, but still...).

It would have been better if they stretched the playfield over the two screens, though. Or controlling it with the stylus. :lol:

Do any of you know that there's something for the DS to let you play movies? I mean if you were fooled by that video, you suck. You can clearly see the "game" quality is a different quality than the whole video itself.

So what you're saying is they coded a special version of the Doom sequence just to capture a movie of it to play on the DS?

Because that's not just a video capture from the arcade version.

The DS video was posted by the VP of Akira, so something must be up.

The GBA video is fake all over it. The sound effects I herd are impossible on the GBA soundchip. Also the GBA can't handle all of those sprites.

So for people who still think the GBA port is something, it's lies.

Does the GBPlayer even give a full screen resolution like that? I thought it used a smaller window with a wallpaper around it. Again, I call BS.

The GBA can handle up to 128 sprites. Even if the game does go past its limit, there are tricks to display more sprites during horizontal blanking. I think its possible on the DS since (I think) it can handle up to 256 sprites? It should be doable but with some obvious limitations like slow down, etc.

Let me ask you a question. How come this clip of Tiny Doom is different to this clip of Tiny Doom, yet both games appear to have exactly the same screen layout? I've heard quite a few conspiracy theories disproving the existence of these already, however I say it's a beta or concept cartridge similar to Starfox 2 on the SFC, among others.

The GBPlayer has a full screen mode. A window is there in the video, but it's hard to see. The high detail and sound does seem fake, but Icarus made a good point. You can see the guy's thumb controlling the game if you look closely in the GBA SP video too.

I wouldn't be surprised if the makers of shmups aren't looking for a backdoor since I don't think next gen consoles are really an option right now. Everyone in Japan apparently has a DS, and many still have GBAs and GCs, so despite the non-believers, it at least makes sense on a motivation level. If the GBA is genuinely capable of what we're seeing in that video, then I wouldn't be suprised of some developer taking advantage of it.

Vulkanon is another great example of what the GBA can do sprite wise.
