Ultra mode runs faster on the PCB as well, so I'd think that particularly in your case you'd want to play the same speed as those Japanese scores you compare yourself to.
I know this quite well, the last pattern of the first boss is actually hard on the pcb
Anyway, the difference is so slight (noticeable, but slight) that I feel that I can do the same in both versions (and I did something good on pcb too). Also I suspect (not sure though) that some bits in the very important stage 3 are easier than the PS2 version. Talking about maniac: it's harder on PS2. Original: more or less the same.
Add that stupid practice (it's still a practice mode after all) and autofire hacks, and you have some good reasons to keep on playing the port if you like to play with autohacks (definitely my case).
But I agree, if you're not into it playing the real thing is obviously the best choice :)

You know, you could just have someone build you a controller with A+ and C+ buttons wired in, then you could play the PCB with autofire hacks. Would probably cost a couple hundred bucks, but that would be pretty damn cool.

Sort of related to that,,,,how well do autofire pcb's work? I saw one advertised and it seemed like a pretty cool concept.

I've never used an autofire PCB (I'm assuming you're referring to the circuit you hookup to a Cab's panel), but maybe someone else can shed some light.

I use the autofire circuit on my Sigma 9000TB controller for some games, like Ibara and Pink Sweets, as it lets me fire the A shot at 30Hz. :D

Yea, that's what I was referring to. They seem like a reasonable investment, just not sure how difficult they would be to implement.

It's not that easy with Mushi!
Anyway, I feel that the true meaning of our discussion is that circa2113 should buy the board in any case

You know, I think that I might save up for either a mushi board or an ESPgaluda 2 kit over the summer. I've heard so many good things that I really want to see what the fuss is all about.

For now, I picked up a CPS2 a board so I'll probably try to snag a shooter for it. Most likely mars matrix as it usually sells relatively cheaply.
