If that's true, then I can't possibly stress how great that is to hear. I was ready to leave the second I'd read "lol u 1CCed a scrubs game fag".

Yeah a friend of mine plays Beatmania, and while he doesn't really care about the online community, every once in awhile he checks out the websites and stuff. He was telling me how people will AAA (or whatever a perfect is) light 7 songs (the absolute easiest songs) just to perfect them, and make lists and shit or put them in their sig. Or how people will call out others, accusing them of fake scores. Keep in mind their community is pretty big online, so it would take a very special douche to single out specific people among hundreds and say "Oh I noticed you cleared this song with such-and-such score, but you only got a C on Anime Lover's Delight ~KAWAII MIX~ {Another}, so I think you're lying. That kind of stuff pretty much never happens here.

Even if you 1cc something easy people around here are more likely to say "Congrats, now go for a higher score, or try a harder game if you like. BUt whatever you do, make sure you're having fun."

Thanks for the responses everybody!

I spend way too much money being able to play shmups... I' couldn't give up if I wanted to. It's the most fun hobby I currently have. I think I will just stop kicking myself for never 1ccing BULLET-HELL-RAIN style shmups...

I've been playing shmups for years and I only got my first 1cc the other day on Batrider normal mode.

I think that to start off with people should play some reccomended really easy games (on default/ normal, unless it has ingame difficulty modes like Batrider and Ikaruga). Then when you get better at them you can give yourself a pat on the back. Instead of hammering away at a difficult shooter, not getting anywhere so you might get demoralized about playing them.

Sounds good!

I've been meaning to type a response up in this thread, because I recently found myself undecided about a particular game, but my interest and appeal instantly went up when I made a few [personally-significant] achievements. Some games are fun whether you're making progress or not, though, because "winning isn't everything" and as long as you have a variety to choose from, you usually don't grow tired of them.

I thought my first 1CC would be my first new shooting game, Psyvariar 2... but more recently I'm thinking that it will very likely be Trizeal, because I love that game so much. Everyone has a game that they're partial to; one that they enjoy playing and that inspires them to push beyond the bounds. Furthermore, no one has the exact same skill level and improvement curve, so a reasonable course of goals should be set.

It was the best thing in the world for me when I got a 1LC for stage one in Trizeal. It seemed so simple, yet it was very difficult due to my skill level. It's important not to disregard your own skill, or you might end up being unfair to yourself and even setting yourself up for disappointment! So, have fun, reach for attainable goals, and drink lots of water.

(By the way, cute avatar!)

As an aside; I started getting into these games in late 2003, and I don't expect my first 1CC to happen before 2009. It's only on the back of my mind and doesn't matter too much, though, because I'm having such a good time. Whichever game it is, I'm going to remember it... so I'll be making sure that it's a game that I'll be happy to have cleared, and that says a little something about me as a gamer and person. I know it's not like getting married, but I'd be happy with Trizeal, Psyvariar 2, Giga Wing or even Trigger Heart Exelica in that spot. Border Down would be really nice, but I honestly don't see that one happening.

PS- Congratulations, 99pence! Congratulations also to heurhface. :)

To be honest, i've never 1cc'd a shmup of any description. I've come close sometimes, but i'm not fretting or anything. I know in my heart i'll never be able to 1cc Mars Matrix for example, but frankly I don't care. For me shmups is all about that guilty rush of mad bullets, someone looking over your shoulder and going 'wow'. It's just a bit of a laugh.
