Sorry you had to sell your car BloodFlowers...I guess this thread has some "bad timing", as it seems as though its "twisting the dagger" a bit.
(you just selling your car a few days ago and regreting it, and seeing how happy I'am with mine)

Is that you standing by the car in that one pic?

Hope job prospects pick up...I could use a good job as well.

I feel sorta outta place on this as mine is a more recent car. But it still falls under the muscle car category so here's some pics:

There's a few more pics here (click on "Car" on the left).

I haven't been to the drag strip since it was stock. Stock, it got a 13.7/13.8 (can't remember) on the 1/4 mile. (290's HP), on a 99F degree day.

Damn! 2491.2 lbs? Did he remove alot from the vehicle to get to that weight? Or is that the stock weight?

I know alot of drag racers rip out back seats, radios, etc... to lower their weight as much as they can. But 2491 is incredibly low.

Edit: Dammit Thats the full WRC spec weight my mistake normal is 2672 lbs without full petrol tank

Remember its a 2 litre twin entry turbo engine not a big bastid american v8, interior wise pretty bare, the fabric is made from hollow fibres, tubular chassie, carbon fibre bonent and spoiler. Its not a very large car it was originally designed for rallying not road use so it retains much of that spirit. Drinks petrol but much more economical than an evo or subaru.

Theres a few guys in the owners club with much lighter cars and 0-60 times of 3.2 secs thats insane.

The Supra is the daddy of em all though. 3 litre twin turbo not that quick of the line but once they hit 60 mph few road use cars in the world can touch em. Pity they fail fuel emission tests, drink petrol and are expensive to modify.

You've heard of top secret yeah? the Skyline mod gods, They stripped 300kgs from a skyline one time it did over 200 mph! with 1000 bhp!

5.0 V8 320bhp

Post by DEL »

Landshark - Funny how your Tag is also the name of an Australian 928 site I sometimes check. See Below:-

www.wolfeden.org/~davidw/

http://www.landsharkoz.com

The wolfenden link features a 928 S4 which is similar to mine (below right).
Mine is a 5.0ltr V8 with 320bhp. It only goes 165mph and its 0-60 is around 5.5secs. I know its a bit sluggish, but its decent for convenience shopping
An American 928 specialist company called Devek bores 928s out to 6.5ltrs & has recorded 207mph with a 928 S4.

Landshark - Your 2000 Trans Am is GNARLY!! Previously you were talking about your 'truck', & you didn't mention the Trans Am. Is that a body kit for the bonnet, or do they roll them off the assembly line like that these days  ?!?
Ps. Good luck for next week!

Yeah it's been a bitter pill to swallow letting it go - final paperwork will be signed on Monday now that the money is in my account. I'm thinking I might get a Ford Capri again as a toy second car, some time in the future. Always liked them and the V6 models are a lot of fun. Note to guys in the US - this is NOT the same as the strange little sportster effort you guys had, but is the same as the "Mercury Capri". That was a Ford Capri Mk II in Europe, the Mk III (the last ones) were very similar, different lights and engines mainly.

Still - I have a daily car still that's a lot of fun - it's totally standard, a 1994 BMW 540i Sport. They built them to last to say the least, cost over £40k when new, I paid £5k for it (and you can get them for even less), and I'm driving something with better handling, power, quality, reliability and style than most people buying new cars. Even the fuel economy isn't bad, which is good for a near-300bhp V8.

DEL: I've always thought the 928 is a great car - S4 especially has nice styling - almost bought one myself several times!

Keep up the revs guys! ;-)

I hadn't seen landsharkoz.com before. However, there is also http://www.landshark.com which seems to be a ferrari racing team.

When I wanted to register a domain name a few years ago I wanted landshark.com, but couldn't get it. I also wanted the license plate "lndshrk" when I turned 16 (many years ago ;) ). But literally weeks before I turned 16, I saw someone driving around my hometown with that exact plate. Damn.
Nice. I had a neighbor years ago that had a Porsche that looked just like it. However, I'm unsure of the model. It was a fun car.

I wouldn't exactly call that sluggish. What does bhp refer to? The typical nomenclature I've seen is rwhp (rear wheel HP), and "at the engine" (which is what the dealer will quote you).

It's scary what you can get vehicles to. I've never even tried to approach any of those speeds. I've made it a few times to around 140-145 in my car when I was chasing my buddy in his Z06 on the way to Mid Ohio Raceway (2 lane road, 65mph, had to pass lots of semis). And that was enough for me. I also had the governor back then so it wouldn't let me pass 155 even if I wanted to. That's since been removed. It's suprising, but it doesn't take very long to hit that speed.

The truck is my winter vehicle. Chicagoland=salt-kingdom. The TA is my fun vehicle.

The body is all stock (except for a front fender I had replaced). You made me go to dictionary.com to look up bonnet ;). That is the WS6 hood. When you buy (well, when they sold them, RIP) a Firebird, you can upgrade to various packages: Firebird, Formula, Trans Am, Firehawk. The Trans Am gets a new hood (with the 4 nostrils). And the Firehawk has a different hood as well (2 big nostrils). You get a few other things different with the Trans Am (ws6) and firehawk packages too, but I got it for the hood. I liked the TA look the best of them all.

Got any pics of your porsche?
Ps. Good luck for next week!
Thanks man. 4.5 days in counting .... :|

Twitch - sorry for the slight thread hijack.

Bloodflowers - Man, that hurts me to even think of you letting that car go. I hate debt :( Looks like it was in superb condition as well.

Don't worry about the "hijack"...this was meant to be a car chat thread anyway.

BTW: I've got a new problem with the Velle.
It seems when I put it in gear, either 1st 2nd or 3rd/reverse there is a slight "rickety rackety" sound. I'm sure its not the tranny, because the fluid level is perfect and clean. The rear end differential also is clean and filled to where I can stick the tip of my finger in the filling hole and feel lube. (yea, positraction additive was added by me when I drained it a couple years back)

To me, the sound feels like its coming from either the rearend or the driveshaft. The only other thing I can think of what it may be is the U-joints?

Its feels like its "in-between" gears or the parking brake is on, but thats not possible because I checked the whole shifter, as well as linkage under the car. Everything is hooked up to B&M and TCI specs, and the parking brake isn't even hooked up, as I can push the car back n forth with no effort.
So, could it be the U-joints?

Also, the Velle is asking for a new water pump, as the current one is rattling the pulley. (normal bearing wear)

BTW: I knew what a bonnet was...I guess I can thank all my "tuner" styled games for that. Especially Tokyo Extreme, as well as those "Rally" ones.

Does it happen with the clutch pedal to the floor? Or as you let the clutch out? Or right after?

My tranny tries to jump through the floor of my car when I let the clutch out in first gear with the RPMs too low. And then again at a 6300 RPM shift from 1st to 2nd. But mine is from something completely different.

The tranny is a Racing TurboHydromatic 350 by TCI (auto trans).
It features a manual valve body, so I can shift gears just like a manual, but without a clutch. Can you say "power-shifting"? Or if I'm feeling lazy, or simply cruising around, I can pop it in 3rd(drive) and it will function as a typical 3 speed automatic, but with really hard jerky shifts. (hard jerky shifts REALLY extend the life of U-joints)

Anyway, I'm almost positive its the U-Joints because its only noticable when I give it gas in gear. In other words, if I let the car coast, or idle its way out of the driveway...its fine, but when I press the go peddle, thats when it sounds and feels weird.
Same thing with foreward driving, if its coasting, it sounds fine...no vibrations...give it gas and btbtbtbtbtbtclick.

Anyway, when it comes to my car, I get paranoid. If it makes a weird sound...I wanna know where its coming from and why. Like I said before, I checked everything else out that it could possibly be, and I feel I've narrowed it down.

The only thing is, I'm broke, so Ill have to wait around to fix it.
So far, the Velle needs...
Water Pump...............$40.00
High Output Coil.........$40.00 to $60.00
Heavy Duty U-Joints...$28.00 pair
GAS,GAS,GAS, and more GAS.....$2.09 for 93octane and rising.

Gas prices is America are soo low compared to Uk man.

Its got to the point that it governs the vehicles we buy!

In Northern Ireland were not to bad off as you can get from one side of the country to the other in an hour and a half but its costing guys with mistubishi evos about £30 for a trip to the capital and back that really adds up after a year.

Not looking forward to prices when I buy my car in a few years time.

Plum Crazy indeed!!!!! Ebay style...
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... otohosting

Have a look! I knew Challengers were worth alot of dough...but this is ridicalick.

Even un-drivable rusty ones are going for around $6000.00 (but I kknew that)

They can go for quite a bit, especially when they are all original with low miles.

That thing is beautiful. I'd love a Challenger, an open top would do just fine.

I recently found some really cool car videos you can view online.
Here's a link to one of em featuring a guy losing control of his 67 Camaro.
Hope this guy doesn't fuck it up!

http://www.cvsr.net/php/viewvideo.php?v ... archterms=

Also, the same site has even more videos, all you car gearheads give it a look. The vids don't take too much time to load up (only a couple minutes each), and thats on this old slow dialup computer!

Yea, there's even a little import action too.
Most of the action takes place on the streets of Arizona.

Here's another video featuring a Chevelle like mine...but with around 600HP or so.
Putting slicks to good use, and totally killing a Mustang...
