Awesome hotrod.

Also, I weep every time I hear my dad talk about how he sold his 73 stingray corvette and 69 Camaro.

The only ride I got to have in the 'vette was when they took me home from the hospital. *sob* EDIT: I think the camaro was sold long before the corvette.

Bout time!!! Been waiting for pics of Twitch's car.

Not at all what I pictured all the times he mentioned "hot rod." This is a much nicer suprise.

Edit: Totally off-topic. zer0eight - I like the music in your 3 flash animations on the frontpage.

Thanks Landshark... When I bought the domain I was not sure what to do with it. So, I decided to put some media of my poems, music, and videos online. I have not updated in a while. I should add something new to it soon.

Yea, these pics where taken a while back. The engine was a little dirty(dusty) in that pic. Currently, I've removed some un-necessary hoses(heater core) and detailed the engine. It really shines now! Also, a larger air cleaner element has been added.

Here's some additional info:
Chevelle SS 1968 model year (my fave year other than '67)
327 cubic inch small block, "camel hump" heads with 202 valves, 325 horsepower (rough racy idle) Rumpity Rump!
Holley 600cfm Double Pumper carb/ Edelbrock Performer RPM intake
TCI High Performance transmission with manual valve body(can be shifted like a 3 speed manual without a clutch/never misses a gear either) B&M 3000 stall converter)
3:73 rearend final gear/ positraction(both rear wheels will leave rubber)

I'm currently rebuilding the distributor with parts from Accel. (yea, I want more spark...the new one should be good for about 45,000 volts!)

The inside looks just as good as outside, with exception of the carpet. I'm going to put some new carpet in there soon anyway.
Also, I'm planning on building another engine, a 350 with around 400HP is whats planned. Give or take a year or two from now, it should be in there screaming!

Nah...no thanks. Its not a "pimp mobile", its a muscle car classic.
It doesn't have a sound system either(stereo)...ah well, not unless you consider Hedman Headers with dual exhausts a "sound system".

That's good enough for most. Most of the time I drive around with the radio off just listening to the engine. But I haven't been able to find my friggin' rattle.

Happens when decelerating in 1st towards 2500RPM and sometimes in 2nd. Drives me insane. A friend and I took out the center console, the boot, and everything else in the way until it was just the shifter, the tranny, and the pavement. (This is when I only had a turn down coming off the y-collector, so the exhaust let out pretty close to where the shifter was).

Drove around trying to figure out what the noise was.

Instead, we ended up getting high and really frickin dizzy from the fumes getting into the car.

Ended up taking off my shirt to cork the hole for the ride home. That sucked.

Thanks...you must be a big fan of 327's then?
Personally, I prefer a big blocks 454 or 427, but 427's are quite rare these days.
Some small blocks are cool too, like the 350,383,400, etc.
Small blocks can be built to have as much power as the big blocks, its just that they weight 200lbs lighter.

Like I said above, I would like to build a 350 to produce 400HP, which is not asking for "too much" at all. (most big blocks don't even have 400HP!!) Hey, but they can be "built" just as easy as the small blocks can.

Well, yes and no. As far as the American muscle goes, I like Mopar best. I had a 69 Coronet but I left it in Idaho when I moved to the "big city".

But nowadays I drive an old Landcruiser. The most common mode of replacing the motor when/if it goes bad is to drop in a 350. I had a buddy that had a 327 in his and I just liked it so much better. Also, I had a buddy with a Firebird (67 if I recall) that had a 327 in it. That was one of my favorite cars ever. So much fun.

And man, I just love a Chevelle :)

Mopars are mostly cool, but yet strange beasts...
My fave would be a 70 Challenger or Cuda with a Hemi 440 of course! Add to that a "Pistol Grip" 4 speed shifter! (can you NOT blow the doors off anything with that!?)

So, you had a 69 Coronet? Pretty much a Road Runner wannabee...just add some parts and there you go.

Oh, almost forgot to mention, 68 Chargers are bitchin, as are the Daytona's/SuperBirds.
You could always go with a Dart if you're on a budget! (Turn a granny car into a Demon  )

'67 FireBirds are cool too...but I much prefer a 67 Camaro.
I think a 67 Camaro would be my all time fave Muscle car period. (I'm more or less a "Chevy" guy anyway)

My dream car? Yea, a bright Yellow 67 Camaro with black interior, housing a 454 big block 500HP along with a 6 speed manual tranny. Yep, I wanna fuck EVERYBODY up! (Even those Cobra guys)

I'd have to say that my ultimate muscular favorite is the 68 Charger. My first roommate in Seattle had one with a fucking 440 in it! Manual transmission too. That was probably the most fun I ever had in a four wheeled vehicle with my clothes on. Holy shit man.

Next in line is the Coronet/Road Runner. I really wanted to make mine nice but as I said, I was more into living in Seattle than driving fast in Idaho ;) My original intent was to make it a Super Bee clone. Silver.

I wasn't so much into Firebirds, I just liked that one my buddy had. That 327 was so punchy and quick.

There's a guy here in Seattle that we call "The King of Ballard". Ballard is where the fishing boats come in and there's lots of warehouses and grubby automotive shops. This older guy and his wife cruise around Ballard all summer long in the mintest Plum Crazy convertible 70 Cuda w/ 440 Six-Pack. What a fucking hero. I turn green with envy every time I hear him coming and break my neck just to look.

Muscle cars are one of the most enjoyable facets of my American heritage.

Vanishing Point

Post by DEL »

I LOVE the Growl of a V8

I've always gravitated towards Muscle Cars, its something instinctive with me.

Anyway, I have a question;

I'm a fan of 70s American Muscle Car Movies. They tended to have hardcore endings, like the film disintegrating at the end of "Two Lane Blacktop", or the car WHAMMING into a huge tractor at the end of "Vanishing Point".
But there is another Movie from that time featuring a Muscle Car. My memories of it are very faint. At the end of the movie, some kids have successfully outdriven the police and are driving through forest roads in what I think was a canary yellow DODGE CHARGER. They look behind & congratulate themselves then SLLLLLAAAM the car crashes & explodes into the side of a huge freight train.
WHAT IS THE NAME OF THIS FILM??

American muscle cars look nice, sound nice but that fuel economy is a joke. If you had one in europe you could run it about once a year.

My fav American car is the Ford GT40/GT. That looks just awesome.

Even if I was rich I don't know how I'd feel about driving a car often that wasted so much fuel.

That is one movie I've yet to add to my collection. Its stars Peter Fonda (Easy Rider). The car was a 68 Charger...the movie is called, "Crazy Larry,Dirty Mary)
I've only seen it twice and its super RARE. I've seen actual copies(as in recordings) of the movie selling for around $60.00 US dollars!!! (Ebay)
And you thought Radiant SilverGun was hard to get.

Anyway, yea, I have Two Lane BlackTop(Dennis Wilson=BeachBoys Drummer and James Taylor),Vanishing Point, Gumball Rally(young Gary Busy,Raul Julia), King Of the Mountain(Harry Hamlin, Dennis Hopper)

You should also look into the original "Gone in 60 Seconds" as well as the remake. Not to mention, Fast and the Furious and Too Fast.
CannonBall Run ain't too bad, but its kinda silly, whereas these other are more "serious".
DeathRace 2000(David Caradeen, Sly Stallone) Its kinda cheezy, but thats what makes it cool.

I really can't think of any more right now, but one of my favorite horror movies feaures a badass Mopar, "Phantasm". The main character has a black on black 70 Cuda with a Pistol Grip.

BTW: King of the Mountain is my all time favorite movie period...don't ask me why, I can't explain it, it just is.

17 MPG ain't too bad, and its not hard to get even with a tuned high performance big block.
My Chevelle prolly gets in the 15MPG range.
Its a fun car, not a daily driver! Basically, its a big expensive toy. "The Real Driving Simulator"!!!

I think I'm at around 14-15 mpg. But it also takes 93 octane. Which just hit around $2.50/gal around here. It's still too much fun to give up. I love the rumble.

320 brake horse power at the wheels? That makes no sense. 320hp at the wheels, or 320whp works. Sweet car, though, love to see those pics.

^ Yea, I'd like to see it too. I can appreciate "import" muscle as well.
320HP? Thats quite a bit for a small lightweight car. How much does it weigh?
Also, do you have any quarter mile times...quarter mile times are cool and all, but even I like to take some corners. Unfortunately, my Chevelle won't stand for it with "muscle car" tires and 38 year old suspension.
If I had the money, I could upgrade, and it would handle pretty well...although not as agile as a stout import. Still, watch out for me on the straights.

Well - due to a possibly dim outlook at my current employment (we just don't know for sure, but maybe redundant in a year), I've just sold mine a few days ago to wipe my CC balance, but this is what I had:

http://system11.org/temp/firebird/index.html

Very sorry to see it go. It's a genuine 1971 Trans Am 455HO manual shift. While in the UK they're expensive to fuel, as a weekend car you just don't notice (plus 1971 means free road tax, a $400 saving per year almost).

Crazy Larry, Dirty Mary - EXCELLENT! Many Thanks TWITCH. That movie must be rare as you say. I saw it once on TV, and that must have been in the 80s. My memory of it is so dim that I was doubting that the memory was real!
$14.99 is also great news. I'll see if my import shop in Central London can get hold of it for me.

Bloodflowers - Sweet Trans Am, shame you had to let it go.
