One that ends; unlike the vast majority of TV shows/cartoons that FEEL like they need to have ends, but don't.

ノ ミス (no misu):
Contraction of NO MISUteku = No Mistake.
"no misu" was then wrongly transcribed into English as "no miss" by some Japanese game designer who didn't know any better, and it got stuck.

They love those contractions in Japanese, other examples include:

セクハレ (sekuhare) = SEKUshuaru HARAsumento = Sexual Harassment
マクド (makudo) = MAKUDOnarudo = MacDonald's
パソコン (pasokon) = PASOnaru CONpyuta = Personal Computer
ファミコン (famicom) = FAMIri CONputer = Family Computer

Only those didn't re-enter the English language.

End of story :D

I like "Brappi", short for Brad Pitt.

Huh? Even after all of the examples of games using it decades before DDP came out?

I was thinking the same thing!

Nice to know what this means now, though. It actually seems reminiscent of how slang tends to go in English too, as in when people say, "the yoozh" as shorthand for "the usual." (It was hard to spell that, sorry.) Makudo sounds every bit as agreeable as "Mickey D's," but then again, didn't McDonald's come up with that themselves?

Yes, I should read that Shmup Glossary. I believe I will!

Actually I think it's there. They just made it horizontal, while the rest of the text was vertical (look at it again). I actually corrected this for them, but they did not change it.
