When I bought it I'd thought I'd be playing Mercs the whole time but I was pleasantly surprised at just how awesome Gun.Smoke was. Easily the best game on the pack if you ask me.Capcom Generation 4 (but do get it for MERCS)

*nod* I picked up this pack for Gunsmoke alone, and I never even played the arcade version, which is MUUUCH different from the NES version. I'm really loving the arcade version of it ^_^
I was going to comment on So-So TSS too (I actually thought I did?). Twinkle Star Sprites belongs in the Good. And if you added a Great section to shrink the Good one a bit, it'd jump up there. MUST be played multiplayer though, I've never played the single player, but if it's anything like the difference in solo/multi with Phantasmagoria of Flower View (Touhou knockoff of TSS), then solo blows in comparison.

Eh, I would primarily disagree with Fantasy Zone, Gun Frontier, and the Capcom collections being in the "No" category (maybe even the MSX Collection even though it gives me a headache. But it DOES have Knightmare). Though I also consider Twinkle Star Sprites, Blast Wind, and Metal Black good.

[quote=Heya SkylineR32 (man it's weird typing out the whole thing, but there's a "Skyline" running around too I'm pretty sure) ^_^ The big turnoff for me with Dezaemon is that I have no creativity whatsoever. No matter what I do with it, I'm sure I'll churn out something that I don't really care for. =D[/quote]
LOL, Deza is not one of the lower tier IMO, it's just that you hadn't mentioned it and don't own it. What you should know though is that it comes with 5 games already on it! They are more 16bit type things but hey, it's 5 shooters!
As for Twinkle Star Sprites, I know it's all personal tastes and opinions, but how it couldn't be near the top of someone's list is beyond me.

Well, I'd always read that the Saturn version was better than the NeoGeo ones and when the DC one came out, all the reviews said don't bother if you already have the Saturn version, lol.jp wrote:You should. TSS running with absolutely no slow down is pretty cool actually.
Though the Satty version still has the graphical enhancements and the school girl character. So... its probably still the best version available.

Well, the DC one offers 2 things over the Saturn version:
NO slowdown (whereas the Saturn has a little when you use a bomb if I recall correctly, nothing too bad, but still annoying).
English
So the DC TSS is definitely worth checking out.

Yeah, definitely slowdown in the Saturn version. Still, not as bad as other games.jp wrote:SkylineR32 wrote:Well, I'd always read that the Saturn version was better than the NeoGeo ones and when the DC one came out, all the reviews said don't bother if you already have the Saturn version, lol.jp wrote:You should. Anyway, not only did Last Hope arrive today but so did Kingdom Grandprix. I'm off to check it out now.

Agreed, Gun.Smoke in tate format is beautiful to behold. I must play this again soon. Very addictive.JoshF wrote:When I bought it I'd thought I'd be playing Mercs the whole time but I was pleasantly surprised at just how awesome Gun.Smoke was. Yeah... Saturn version at least has LESS slowdown than the AES/Neo-Geo CD versions.

Gun Frontier is the shooter I showed some of my younger friends a few years back...they wondered how you can even see what's coming since it seems so fast
That was arcade, though I bet the Saturn version isn't too different.
I like Metal Black quite a bit. Gameplay isn't incredibly special compared to some games, but it works just fine. The rest of the game comes together to make it a great experience.
I'm not sure what I think of Kyuukyoku Tiger +. It seems competent enough in MAME, especially now that I can play it full-size. But...too easy first stage and then BOSS TIME! You die.

Kyuukyoku Tiger II|+ moved way to fast IMO. Rather, the bullets move way too fast in proportion to the speed of your helicopter.
But its alright if you have the green homing weapon thingy.
As for Gun Frontier, its a competent enough game. Its really hard to diss the game that inspired Battle Garegga as far as I'm concerned though.
I love Metal Black personally. I think the music is awesome and the gameplay is very cool indeed. I just think the bonus level things are lame since they dictate your score more than anything.

I dunno if I've ever played KT2+ in TATE. I'll have to give it a shot this evening.BulletMagnet wrote:It might also be worth noting that you pretty much NEED to be able to play in tate on KT2+...if memory serves both Yoko modes are "wobbly," and a real pain in the kiester.
