Generation - Force Field

I didn't get the exclusive 5,000 point spot, unfortunately.

And now, a score from the "holy shit, I've forgotten how to play" department:

Zach Keene - 431,700 - 1-6 - Type D - Force Field - Generation

A little better:

Zach Keene - 709,300 - 1-8 - Type D - Force Field - Generation

Challenge A unlocked after this game even though I hadn't cleared it. Perhaps just scoring 573000 is sufficient?

Since I can't find my copy of Galaxies, I figured I'd try out the Generation ROM...

crithit5000 - 221,900 - 1-4 - Type D - Force Field - Generation

Is it just me, or is rank handled differently in Generation? First time I made it to 1-3's boss I crapped my pants because the shots he was firing left very little room for error.

Had to dig out the ol GBA again and give this another go:

it290 - 360,200 - 1-6 - Type D - Force Field - Galaxies

That organic wall section gets me every time. I've become very frustrated with this game because I can get up to that point perfectly every time, and then get destroyed every time.

I need to practice this game some more, I know I can do better than that.

Gradius Galaxies

Kccttzj - 605,100 - 1-8 - Type B - Force Field

I haven't played this game in quite some time. I need to pick it up again and see what I can do.

How many speed ups do you use K? Hell, how many speed ups does any one use in this game? I can't decide between one and two...

Minor improvement:

I know what you mean, one seems too slow, but two seems way too fast. But in the later levels you seriously need two speed ups (I'd say from level 3 upwards), so I'd say you should stick with two. I can't even imagine managing level 7 and 8 with only one speed up.

I use two speed ups too. I don't really have any problem with that speed until about stage 6, I think. With a few parts it's just too fast, but then with others one speed up is too slow. It just takes some getting used to. I was wondering if you've tried all the weapon types yet, too. I wanted to go back and try the other ones again, and see if I like them. I expect you'll be beating my high score in a day or so anyway. :(

Yeah right K, I don't have the time or patience to beat that score. You did more than well. :D

Any who, I think I will stick with two speed ups as well, I just usually like a slower ship, but one speed up is just far too slow. I will just have to adjust that is all.

And as for the type thing...
I like tybe B and C because of the two way missle, but B looks like the more solid choice to me because the thrust laser seems very quirky to me. Oh wells, I will figure out some thing.

Yeah. I actually shied away from type B at first, but I like it the best I think. I don't know if I'll get around to trying to beat that score. I actually got that when I was at work, but lately there's not really enough time for me to play without too many interruptions, but I guess I shouldn't really being playing at work anyway. =P

benj - 764,500 - 2-2 - Type D - Force Field - Advance

FINALLY beaten the first loop, and a 1LC to boot!
I was so nervous at the beginning of the 2nd loop that I lost a life on the first boss. Suicide bullets from pieces of glass finished me off on the 2nd stage.

Wow, I just remembered I used to play this game. And I remembered that I also sucked.

But not as much as when I just picked it up again 2 days ago. Geez. I didn't even get halfway through the first stage before losing all my lives.

Anyway, no new score. Just update to say I was playing Galaxies US version.

LGB - 247300 - Stage 1-4 - Galaxies - Shield (Front)

After having been sitting there inactive ever since about a week after I got it (a year ago?) I decided to fool with it again and got to stage 4 with pretty much no hitches.

This game could be a bit faster imo.

Ed Oscuro - 364,400 - Stage 1-6 - Type B - Galaxies - Force Field

This is with one life. Nearly doubled my old score of 217K, and easily beat a whole stage I'd never seen before.

I hate wavy tentacles. In any Gradius game, they're the thing that kills me.

Edit: Fixed the stage. In Hint mode, the highest stage shown is 6-2, but I guess I need not worry about the stage portion here.
