IMPORTANT NOTICE! Due to Gradius Generation's differences in scoring mechanics (an extra 5000 point hidden bonus and points for power-ups), the boards have been split up. I am keeping an overall chart, so all the old scores will stand. It would be greatly appreciated if those involved thus far would post or PM me which versions you are playing so you could be added to the proper game chart. Thanks in advance.

Good luck!

I should get CCC-Shiner to register here, he has a "movie" of himself no-deathing the first loop on Hard difficulty.

I've seen the one with his commentary, and it's a damn fine vid. Maybe I should PM him over at ikaruga.co.uk...I'd be totally happy to throw a Easy and Hard difficulty scoreboard up in my first post.

Anyone have access to the old forums? I don't have my high score anymore as it was recorded in the old forum.

alpha5099 - 379,000 - 1-6 - Type D

Level 6 is the organic level, reminscient of the first level of Salamander 2, right? That's where I ended. Beat the 4th boss for the first, made it through all of the Maoi level (I think the boss just self-destructed, I don't think I actually beat him), and then I got destroyed by suicide bullets from masses of flesh.

Fun little game. It's nice to have a handheld game that's really actually good, instead of just "good for a handheld."

lost my first man at the beginning, and this, being the hardest level to recover in (for me), i bought it for final at the end where the line of enemies comes out, firing on you like crazy.

oh, hard is friggin fun, is this basically the same diff as Loop 2?

minor improvement in score, didn't get as far as last time. takin out extra Maoi heads and their rings really boosts things up.

also, anyone know of a "secret" scoring opportunity in the first stage.

Image
anyway, on the lower-left side of the platform is another little platform. slide through for 5,000 points.

There are several of those, actually:

Gradius Homeworld's list

I've never gotten #4 to work on the US version though.

Edit: fixed broken link.

well i certainly won't be trying many of those in the near future. haha

still haven't cleared the thing, so risky maneuvers are out until i get more comfortable.

thanks. pic changed to reflect real bonus.

edit: no extend = mildly unhappy ahar

I just got this a few weeks ago. I almost got to 1-4 today in school. I'll post a score when I get that far.
I was wondering, though, what's the extend on this (if there is any)?

EIHoppe - 633,800 - 1-8 - Type D - Force Field

Would've most likely been a 2nd loop score if I didn't screw up the high-speed section as I usually do and lose all my powerups for the string of bosses.
Oh well. I'll have to make another run during the next cartrip I take to (insert place name here that's far away).

I finally found this game yesterday and I must say it is quite lovely. I just wish there were some extends, though, when you get a stupid death it really hurts. Still, I like it a lot, except for the beginning of the Stage 3 music.

I dunno if anyone's playing Generation (I will be since I just got a copy), but if so we might want a separate board for it. The extra 5000 hotspot might not be much of a score advantage, but the extra 100 points per powerup will add up.

Indeed, I was thinking that last week when I revised the title of this thread (reasoning behind that was because the high score index indicated this thread as all three). If everyone involved thus far can tell me what version they're playing, I'd be happy to split up the tables properly as soon as possible.

Tables split and cleaned up, but I kept an overall chart. Really need to get back into this game as my score is absolutely pathetic.
