About seven. And the good thing is that whenever I have re-sold them, it's because I needed the money and never lost a cent in the game, whenever a profit could not be made.Rob wrote:Specineff likes to buy Radiant Silverguns. How many have you owned?
I have just enough money to buy Radiant Silvergun.

Indeed, for 150 it's a no-brainer. Go buy it from Koa Zo. For the rest, buy Soukyugurentai*, which in the opinion of many is the Saturn's second best.Specineff wrote:Somebody offered you one for 150, and no replies were made. I'd buy it if I had the money.
Case closed.
*There are two versions of Soukyugurentai, the original release and Soukyugrentai Otokuyo. Both are identical, but the original has some garbled text when played in a non-Japanese Saturn. Otokuyo also features a playable demo of Battle Garegga.

Dude! if you have gotten that far on Gradius V and Shikigami 2 then why not just take it to the next level and get Garegga and Batsugun for SS. If you got the system then definatly buy some games for that.
RS is an amazing game though, but for me nothing beats Tate oriented blasting. I guess it all goes back to your taste. As mentioned before RS is very technical, but my tastes have moved away from that style towards more arcade/ twitch/ bomb sort of games--so I would give Garrega and Batsugun the edge.

Someday people will discover Soukyuugurentai isn't really a shump, it's a lock 'em up. Shooting games don't punish you for shooting and you don't have to avoid powerups like they're bullets.
I'd say go for Batsugun.
I'd say go for Batsugun.

I had it on release and even now its not in my top ten, I can appreciate why peole love it but its never really clicked with me. I gave it to a friend about a year ago who loved it (And promptly lost it.. that tested our friendship)
Although, if this your only chance to buy it in 6 years it might be worth going for.
I personally would get ikaruga, border down, Under defeat, gigawing2(us) as they are all excellent shooters. You will probably have enough cash left over to buy an arcade stick for that authentic shooter experience (Joypads are the devils work)

Don't buy a game due to hype. If it feels good, do it, but does it?
Let me explain:
Touch Detective - Great game - Mediocre score on IGN - sells poorly due to this and it being an Atlus title.
God Hand - Great game - Mediocre score on IGN - sells poorly due to it being hard and overall difficult.
There's 2 games to think about. Now think about Radiant Silvergun and how many people have boasted it, and how much you'll be disappointed if you don't enjoy it.
FORCING yourself to like something doesn't make sense

proof please. oh? what? you *don't* work for ESP...?Ceph wrote: And since the print run of Radiant Silvergun was 50,000 copies
let's keep it simple: do you like ikaruga? if yes, buy it. if no, buy it anyway and start an "RSG is overrated thread".

I think a good suggexstion coul'd be: go to www.super-play.co.uk, database search, Radiant Silvergun, and downolad some supreplays: these videos give you an idea of game design-music and also of how the game shoul'd be played.

The number quoted comes from gamestate.net, which unfortunately does no longer exist, but you can still see it here:jpj wrote:proof please. oh? what? you *don't* work for ESP...?Ceph wrote: And since the print run of Radiant Silvergun was 50,000 copies![]()

Pretty much what jpj said is almost spot on:

Go get a cheap gamecube with Ika and if you love that then spend the readies on Silvergun.
I think it's an awesome game...
I *HAD* to get RS after playing the hell out of Ikaruga first. If you don't like Ikaruga with it's intense memorisation, RSG isn't for you...jpj wrote:let's keep it simple: do you like ikaruga? if yes, buy it. if no, buy it anyway and start an "RSG is overrated thread".

Hey, I didn't say that. And I enjoy RSG more than Ikaruga.shinsage wrote:I love Ikaruga like a son and hate RSG like a bastard.Ceph wrote: let's keep it simple: do you like ikaruga? if yes, buy it. if no, buy it anyway and start an "RSG is overrated thread".
You should take into consideration that the Saturn port of RSG includes a "Saturn Mode" which allows you to store your weapon levels; that means you can power up and play it like an ordenary shmup without color-chaining.xghostsniperx wrote:Well, I think the comparisons to Ikaruga are apt enough. I really can't stand whole polarity/chaining thing and I hate when Ikaruga just gets really slow during the "puzzle" elements of the game.
I'll hold off on buying it for awhile, thanks guys.

It's safe to say you won't like Silvergun. Best to hold off.xghostsniperx wrote:Well, I think the comparisons to Ikaruga are apt enough. I really can't stand whole polarity/chaining thing and I hate when Ikaruga just gets really slow during the "puzzle" elements of the game.

For me, Radiant Silvergun isn't just the best shooter, it's my all-time favoraite game. Nothing else really comes close. It's a slow-manic-thinking man's shooter with so many multiple "oh shit" moments you woulnd't bellieve it until you see it. But it's not for everyone.
And as far every sane report I've read over the years, there were 50,000 copies of Silvergun printed. It's not rare - the demand is higher than the supply.

We can't stop here. This is bat country.
P.S. $200 = three or four games of equal quality. Do the math - one huge investment that you may or may not like, or three or four games which you can be sure will last you ages. You're missing Dodonpachi Daioujou (PS2), Border Down (DC) and Garegga/Soukyu (Saturn) from what I can see on your posted list.

You are right! DDP DOJ is still very affordable, though Border Down has pretty much become the Dreamcast's Radiant Silvergun at this point and even the regular edition is now going for ~$150. Chances are it will become even more expensive in the future since there are only 3,000 Limited Edition copies and 8,000 regular edition copies (5,000 first print, 3,000 second print). That means unlike Radiant Silvergun, Border Down really is somewhat rare.Icarus wrote:We can't stop here. This is bat country.

Border Down is of immense quality, however, and well worth the purchase. And you don't necessarily have to go for the LE, the regular one can be had for a good price if you have patience and hunt around. (One on YAJ for about £50 at the moment, *hint hint*. ^_-)Ceph wrote:You are right!
